should work. Note that Hotmail is now Outlook.com if that's what is confusing you. Your @Hotmail.co.uk email address should still work, its the interface and branding that has changed. Please see: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/outlook/auto-upgrade-outlook-faq .

With the warning that a reset will delete AutoComplete data, such as passwords (do you have those backed up?) and you will have to reinstall or re-enable browser add-ons, use the Reset IE Settings button in Internet Options> Advanced.
What a reset of IE settings will do:

Your @Hotmail.com sign-in should still work at www.hotmail.com You should also be able to sign-in to the hotmail account from https://mail.live.com
If you can't sign-in from those URLs please explain what you mean by
