I downloaded and configured the latest Outlook android app with the cool metro interface. however I noticed that when I send emails my name is not dispalyed as sender but rather I only see my email address

In otehr words the recipients would see

From: ******@hotmail.com

Instead of

From: My Name

This doesnt happen when I send emails from the web interface or the windows 8 app, only withy the Android app. As much as I have looked I cant find where it is you set the sender's name

Hi Everyone,

As some of you already know, there have been a recent update to the application which include "Recipients can see the sender name instead of just an email address in mail sent from the app".

For others who have not yet updated the Outlook.com app on your mobile devices, kindly do so.

If you want to leave any feedback for the Outlook.com application, you can by going through this link:

Let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks!

I'm having the exact same issue with the Outlook app on Android. I have multiple Hotmail/Outlook accounts so I nicknamed them for my own convenience. This was done when adding the account. It asks "what nickname would you like for this account?" So I nicknamed them like "Personal-Hotmail" or "Work-Outlook." Had I left them as default, I would have multiple email accounts showing my name and I would have to guess which one is which.

The problem is that when I send out emails, the receiver sees my account nickname as the sender. So when somebody sees an email coming from "Personal-Hotmail" they are most likely to delete it.

This should be fixed right away. Account nicknames and sender names are totally different things. I should be able to nickname my accounts for my own convenience. I don't know if there is a limit on number of accounts you can add to the Outlook app but can you imagine someone having 10 email accounts and they all have his/her name.

    Hello

I am experiencing the same issue and have found no resolution. I have followed the trouble shooting already recommended.

    • Android Outlook App version 1.3.2 (77),
    • Android 4.2.2
    • Samsung Galaxy S 4 mini (GT-I9192)

The problem is sending emails from within the app on my phone. only email address appears on the email, no display name, as the problem has been explained by others. Unfortunately, in the web interface, when I go in Options - Your email accounts, click on Details for the email outlook.com email address, there is no "Account Setting" option.

If I am unable to resolve this issue, I will have to discontinue to use the app, as it is an unprofessional appearance the way it is at the moment.

    Thanks in advance.
