android outlook.com set sender name

I downloaded and configured the latest Outlook android app with the cool metro interface. however I noticed that when I send emails my name is not dispalyed as sender but rather I only see my email address

In otehr words the recipients would see

From: ******@hotmail.com

Instead of

From: My Name

This doesnt happen when I send emails from the web interface or the windows 8 app, only withy the Android app. As much as I have looked I cant find where it is you set the sender's name

Hi Everyone,

As some of you already know, there have been a recent update to the application which include "Recipients can see the sender name instead of just an email address in mail sent from the app".

For others who have not yet updated the Outlook.com app on your mobile devices, kindly do so.

Hello all. Appears to be working now on my nexus, oh and on my Samsung galaxy s4.

    I'm having almost the same issue. If my account name is 123456 and my e-mail address is xxxxx@xxxxx, the recipients would see:

    From: 123456 xxxxx@xxxxx

    instead of

    From: my name xxxxx@xxxxx

    I'd like also to mention that I'm experiencing exactly the same issue in the stock e-mail app in android 4.4.2 when setting my Outlook account as Exchange Active Sync.

    As far as I can tell from my experiments, the server determines the display name, not the client.

    It should be as you say, but in reality, the server does not do that. It uses in fact the account name in the app (Outlook.com) as the sender's name. Most of the users aren't aware of this problem because the default account name in the process of setting up Outlook.com is user's name. Change the account name and you'll see that this name will appear as the sender's name. I tried everything possible to solve this problem (I didn't try resetting the phone to factory settings). What I learned from this is that the app (Outlook.com) uses Exchange Active Sync and not IMAP.
