I downloaded and configured the latest Outlook android app with the cool metro interface. however I noticed that when I send emails my name is not dispalyed as sender but rather I only see my email address

In otehr words the recipients would see

From: ******@hotmail.com

Instead of

From: My Name

This doesnt happen when I send emails from the web interface or the windows 8 app, only withy the Android app. As much as I have looked I cant find where it is you set the sender's name

Hi Everyone,

As some of you already know, there have been a recent update to the application which include "Recipients can see the sender name instead of just an email address in mail sent from the app".

For others who have not yet updated the Outlook.com app on your mobile devices, kindly do so.

If you want to leave any feedback for the Outlook.com application, you can by going through this link:

Let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks!

I too am having the very same problem on my newly purchased Galaxy S4 and I am beyond frustrated. I have an Outlook, Hotmail, AND Live account and NONE of them allow me to change or even add a sender name, and when I send a test email, it displays the email name ONLY... Changing this is NOT even an option on the device.

Additionally, this on the native email client, NOT the app that is downloaded from Google Play - It has me seriously considering returning the device and going back to my iPhone - It's been days of trying to get this resolved and to no avail, and in reading a thread that goes back months and to still not have the problem rectified in my mine is asinine.

Finally, I know that this is ONLY an issue w/these email addresses because I have an iCloud email address, as well as a gmail address and w/each I am able to change/add a sender name... Beyond livid now!

    Hi Jade,

Thanks for posting your inquiry here in the Microsoft Community forum. I’m here to assist you with your concern regarding issue about the name shown on your outgoing emails using the app.

Based on the previous posts, the issue has now been resolved. Can you please clarify what nickname are you referring to? Where did it come from? Please check your account name to make sure that the correct name is displayed (http://profile.live.com). It's most likely that the name that's being shown is the name that you currently use on your Profile that's why you're encountering such scenario on your mobile device.

Reinstalling the application will also help us determine if there's actually a problem with the name on your emails.

We're looking forward on your response. We appreciate your cooperation.

    Thank you.

Actually the update solved one problem but created another. Now the application is sending emails from "Nickname of the account".

I am not sure how hard it is to get this right!
