Why won't Outlook.com accept pop.bizmail.yahoo.com?

I'm new to Outlook.com, but I've used Outlook 2010 for years without any problem to access my Yahoo Business Mail account (******@markoneill.com) which is part of my Yahoo web hosted site, markoneill.com.  But the same settings for POP3 mail don't work in Outlook.com.  Outlook.com can't access pop.bizmail.yahoo.com as my POP3 server.  Is there a work-around for this problem?  Thank you.

Mark

I am having the same issue. However I think I know why, but do not know how to correct it. smtp through biz mail requires authentication, most pop setups have a check box to check for authentication, but outlook.com doesn't.

My guess is that outlook.com isn't compatible with stmp that require authentication.

Does anyone know of a way to set up the outlook.com stmp with authentication. You can set it up in regular outlook.

I struggled with this for several hours on several days. I have the solution. Drum roll, please.

First, my situation: A new Nokia 1020 Windows phone 8, a Yahoo bizmail account with a Yahoo alias, and Outlook 2013. I could NOT get my calendar to sync with my phone or Outlook 2013 or Outlook.com. (Also, I had set my Microsoft account on Outlook.com as "send only" and thought that that was the issue.)

Here is a link to the solution: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2459660

    1. Add your Microsoft account to Outlook 2013 again (I did not delete the account I had already created)

I did not see the option "tap Microsoft account" so...

Scroll down to: "If you use Outlook without Exchange"/ expand "Step 2: Sync your calendar"

    1. It says to select "Manual setup or additional server types"/Next
    2. Select "Outlook.com or Exchange ActiveSync compatible service"
    3. Enter your name, email address
    4. And (here is the solution): Mail server: m.hotmail.com

Tada! Outlook 2013 syncs with Outlook.com calendar.

My Windows phone did not sync the calendar. So I looked at the settings for my Microsoft account on my phone (you have to go to the email tile for it, mine says Hotmail), tap the three dots, select Settings, select "sync settings", Server: bay-m.hotmail.com. I changed mine to "m.hotmail.com" as referenced above and it synced. It did however change back to "bay-m.hotmail.com".

It still syncs after reverting so I don't know if that was an important change or not.

My email is NOT synced to Outlook.com and is not synced to my phone either, so it's a partial victory. But that may be because I set it up as "send only" and cannot figure out how to change that.

That will be for another day. :-) Maybe I should try changing Outlook.com to "bay-m.hotmail.com"??

Mark, Tsherfy, & Moderator (and pass this along to anyone else):

With all of you in my quest to have POP3 work with Outlook.com (and specifically Yahoo! Biz Mail) I had no "success" with the "correct" way to input the POP3 service with yahoo! biz mail; my Time Warner Roadrunner email did input, but it dragged terribly slow - I believe someone had mentioned a 30+minute delay.

Here is the "Reach-Around" that working "SUCCESSFULLY" and with Perfect Integration with Outlook.com and Syncs Seamlessly with my phone and Desktop Outlook.

*Note: IDK about Multiple REPLY email addresses, I did not have that desire, so I did not explore that.

I do have Multiple INCOMING EMAIL ADRESSES (Bizmail, roadrunner, etc.), but in my case I wanted ONE REPLY Address; My ******@JGMode.com (yahoo! biz mail)

    - This was just the way I did it, and it worked, 2 nights of experimenting 'till 5 in the morning, I'm not saying it is the "most efficient", but it worked.

    "Reach-Around":

1.) I went to "Windows Live"- Created a "Live Account"- ******@JGMode.com

(which is my yahoo! biz mail and the one I want)

2.) Went to Outlook.com and Signed in with my "Live Account"  ******@JGMode.com

(this causes my Outlook.com replies to come from ******@JGMode.com)

    3.) In Outook.com created a random ALIAS  ******@Outlook.com

4.) Went to Yahoo! Biz Mail Control Panel and "Forwarded" my ******@JGMode.com emails to ******@outlook.com; (in yahoo! I "forwarded with leave a copy on yahoo! - just in case needed)

4.a.) I also did the same with my Roadrunner email that is still in circulation, forwarded to my

                 ******@outlook.com

    5.) Wha-La - It worked ~!!!  :)

6.) Phone - Downloaded Outlook.com from Google Play Store and Outlook.com & Phone perfectly Synced.

7.) Outlook Desktop (for Outlook 10 & 13): I Created a new Äccount (exchange active sync):  and created it as ******@JGMode.com and Used the "Hotmail exchange"  --   blu-m.hotmail.com

7.a.) you can disable your POP3's because everything will go into the exchange, due to the

                forwarding.

7.b.) You will have in Desktop": your "personal folder "and a new ""exchange" folder.

eventually your "personal" folder will become obsolete.

7.c.) That irritated me, I was in the middle of switching laptops and my Outlook Desktop file was HUGE, so what I did was on the existing laptop, I copied all of my "Calendar" and "Contacts" to the "******@jgmode.com, this caused the Calendar and contacts to automatically sync with Outlook.com.

--- I  did not have success in copying inbox, sent, or deleted, emails from "personal folders" to the new ******@JGMode.com exchange, but I didn't try much harder either, I just forwarded the few emails from personal folders Inbox to ******@outlook.com which, put them in exchange folder. I still have my old Laptop for old email archiving in a search situation.

--- I went on my new Laptop and opened Outlook Desktop and started afresh. Created the ******@JGmode.com (exchange active sync) and everything synced perfectly, Calendar, contacts, and to this day everything is working seamlessly.

--- I did this about 3 weeks ago, forgive me if I miscalculated a step in the process, but I did double check all my settings as I was writing this and everything is syncing and functioning perfectly between my phone, outlook.com, and outlook desktop.

    Hi,

I apologize for the delayed response.

    @ ******@markoneill.com:

Thank you for trying to change the configuration settings of your POP account so that you may add it to your Outlook.com account. We would like to verify if you have encountered any issues after doing that. Also, please be informed that you can confirm if you have used the correct configuration settings from your third party email provider.

    @ JeremyGros, and tsherfy:

Please confirm if you have done the instructions from the link that I have provided on my previous post. If you are unable to add your POP account using the steps there and received an error message, kindly provide the exact error message on your next reply.

Meanwhile, I suggest that you try configuring the POP account in Windows Live Mail and check if the issue persists. You can download the program through this link and refer to this article to know how to add your account in Live Mail.

In addition, please contact your email provider to verify the configuration settings for your account. If the same issue persists, we will need the affected email account and the POP account that you are having issues with so that we can check the status of your Microsoft account on our end. I have opened a Private Message tab for both of you so that you can provide those information in a secure area.

Note: You need to sign in to this website and click "You have a Private reply to this message..." or Private Messages across All Replies in order to see the tab.

    Thank you.
