I can no longer log into my old hotmail.com account, message saying it doesn't exist. Can someone please help?

Hi,

I have created this new outlook account just to log this issue.

I've had a hotmail.com email account for years but not accessed it for a while and I really need to access it for some urgent emails but am unable to log in. I keep getting the message: The Microsoft account is incorrect. Please try again.

I know and am 100% sure that the emails address I am entering is correct but it still says it doesn't exist. This is the first time i'm trying to access it since the outlook.com changes so it may be something to do with that. It won't even let me create a new account with the same email address which implies it still exists.

I have seen on the forum other people have the same problem and it was not mis-typing the email addresses or issues like that. So if someone could please have a look as I need to access my hotmail account asap that would be much appreciated.

I am happy to provide my email address and relevant details.

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm here to assist you. I have tried to go to the sign up pageto create a new account and I was able to get the options to use @hotmail.com, @outlook.com and @live.com by clicking the dropdown arrow. You need to register the same account (@hotmail.com) if you wish to receive the emails that will be send to this account. I'd like to inform you that emails sent to @hotmail.com will not be received to account @outlook.com because it is 2 different accounts.

Please be reminded that you if you still cannot register the same account, it is possible that the account is still in the process of deletion from the database.

Should you have more questions, get back to us.

Thank you.

sorry for rambling email, I have tried all of this trying to log out then switch accounts. the registry and switch suffix.

regular log in takes me to out look with no mail going to this account. reregistering says account taken pick a another name. I know this is still active. Is this a windows 10 thing or windows is terrible thing or corporate buy out and little guy getting shaft for not having new fancy email account thing

    Hello All

I'm Having problems signing in to my OLD Hotmail account. Following a medical condition I tried to login to my Hotmail account and because I tried to access it many times security has locked me out.( fair enough).

However  when I try to go through the resetting the password process I fill in all the relevant information and yet it does not accept the form I submit.

I did not use Hotmail directly I usually read and sent my mail via Outlook connecter to ms outlook. Hence all the questions relating to last 5 emails sent last folders are never correct when I fill the form.

The account is not closed so I cannot open the same account

    Can someone please assist.

    Thank you for your assistance

    Hi William,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

To keep your Outlook.com account active you must **sign in** to the account at least once every 365 days.

For more information I suggest you to follow the suggestions provided by the JMH3143 (MS-MVP")) replied on February 4, 2016.

    Hi Vish

I had the same problem and this also happened to me.

So I followed your instructions. But my Inbox / drafts / trash, etc. are all completely empty! :-(

Does this mean that my account was deleted? (I am desperate to try and retrieve anything I can because this was the 1st account I ever had and has some irreplaceable stuff on it.)

Please - is there anything else at all you can suggest?

    Many thanks,

    SM Foster
