I can no longer log into my old hotmail.com account, message saying it doesn't exist. Can someone please help?

Hi,

I have created this new outlook account just to log this issue.

I've had a hotmail.com email account for years but not accessed it for a while and I really need to access it for some urgent emails but am unable to log in. I keep getting the message: The Microsoft account is incorrect. Please try again.

I know and am 100% sure that the emails address I am entering is correct but it still says it doesn't exist. This is the first time i'm trying to access it since the outlook.com changes so it may be something to do with that. It won't even let me create a new account with the same email address which implies it still exists.

I have seen on the forum other people have the same problem and it was not mis-typing the email addresses or issues like that. So if someone could please have a look as I need to access my hotmail account asap that would be much appreciated.

I am happy to provide my email address and relevant details.

Hi,

I'm here to assist you. I have tried to go to the sign up pageto create a new account and I was able to get the options to use @hotmail.com, @outlook.com and @live.com by clicking the dropdown arrow. You need to register the same account (@hotmail.com) if you wish to receive the emails that will be send to this account. I'd like to inform you that emails sent to @hotmail.com will not be received to account @outlook.com because it is 2 different accounts.

Please be reminded that you if you still cannot register the same account, it is possible that the account is still in the process of deletion from the database.

    Hi i have been going through the same problem. My hotmail has expired and I have forgotten my password on another networking site which is connected to the expired hotmail account. I have read these answers and figured out that i should create another account with the email address that has been expired in order to get the email i need. Unfortunately it wont let me create it because this messsage keeps popping up! "Your email address can contain only letters, numbers, periods (.), hyphens (-), and underscores (_). It can't contain special characters, accented letters, or letters outside the Latin alphabet." The email address is maaadison__@hotmail.com and it does follow the criteria that i am being asked to follow. Not sure if its because there is two underscores in a row. I need to get into the other social networking account and it cannot be done until i get into this email account (maaadison__@hotmail.com). I would appreciate the help.

    I responded to the email in the private message area as you asked.  The answers to your questions above are:

    Email account:  Answered in private message area

    Changes that might have led to issue:   No changes - had been using my @hotmail.com email account on 12/28/13.  I logged out and then at some point on that day I just tried to log back in and my account "didn't exist"

    Exact steps that I did before issue occurred:  Tried to log in to my email - this was the only thing I did

    Last time I accessed my account:  12/28/13 for the @hotmail.com account

    Did I click on any link before this issue occurred:  Not that I know of

    I can log in using the same username but with the @outlook.com extension.  I can still see my old emails, but I am not receiving any new emails through @hotmail.com.  I am only receiving emails through the @outlook.com but only from Microsoft, no one else.

    • When was the last time you've accessed your account?
    • Did you click on any link before this issue occured?
