I need to turn on the auto-reply vacation opotion NOW, not wait until I have been using it for a few days as I'm asked to do or put a mobile phone number in which I will not do. I can find no way of doing this.

Hello DhammagitaDhi,

Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention. Allow me to assist you on how you can setup the Automatic vacation reply on your Microsoft account. Please be informed that all Hotmail users will be upgraded to Outlook.com and plans were shared when Outlook.com preview was launched. To ensure a smooth transition for all Hotmail customers, the upgrade will be gradual. This is the start of that upgrade process. Please refer to the steps below on how to do this.

  1. Sign in to Outlook.com.
  2. Click the gear icon on the upper right corner beside your name.
  3. Select More mail settings.
  4. Under Managing your account click Sending automated vacation replies.
  5. Enter the message you'd like to send while you're away.
  6. Click Save.

In addition, note that there's some features that might be turned off for newly created Microsoft accounts.

  • Sending automated vacation replies (auto reply option)
  • Email signature
  • POP aggregation (send Hotmail email with any email address)
  • Forwarding email
  • Reply-To address (receive replies to Hotmail email at a different email address)
  • Send-As address (send email in Hotmail from other email addresses)

Let us know the results after performing the above actions.

    Hi,

Thank you for getting back to us about this.

I understand you wish to have the ability to change the subject title for our Vacation reply. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Let me assist you.

The feature you're looking for is commonly found on business email accounts. Some email clients have this capability as well. You may want to check Office Outlook for more info. They have their own support forum here.

Outlook.com, being a consumer email service, do not have the capability to customize the automated reply (Vacation reply) subject title in its current version. This however have been raised throughout the forums. We've referred them to our feedback channel to give our developers  an idea of what our users are looking for.

I suggest you drop us your feedback as well through the link below. The more feedback we receive, the better. Strength in numbers.
