How to delete one mis-spelled email address from auto-complete list

No.  They clearly don't care and provide no understanding or acknowledgement of the problem.  I just checked and it still doesn't work.  The problem is that they are keeping a log of every address you ever used and then those addresses come up in the search box no matter what features you enable or disable and no matter what caches you clean out.  They have the data and they won't give it up.

Outlook developers do not follow these forums ... so they never see our comments.

The Microsoft engaged Forum Moderators (who do sometimes respond here) do not actually work for Microsoft. They work for the company that Microsoft has contracted to run these forums. They can answer "how to" questions, but do not have any way of fixing bugs.

I suggest that you follow these steps to report this problem to Microsoft developers. Unfortunately, following these steps and reporting the problem does not guarantee that Microsoft will ever fix this problem. This thread was started 13 months ago .... and Microsoft has been ignoring this problem for at least that long. But the more people who report this problem, the more likely Microsoft might fix it. Here are the steps:

1. From your Outlook inbox, click the "gear" icon (upper right of window).
2. In the drop-down list, click "Feedback".
3. Follow instructions and enter a description of the problem ... here's an example: "There are no options to maintain the auto-suggestion list in order to add, delete, or change an auto-suggestion. For example, if an email address with a typographical error has once been entered into the TO field (and that address is NOT in ones contact list), then there is no way to modify the auto-suggestion list to either delete or change the address with a typo." 

Perhaps Satya will change things ... we can always try sending an email to him!

Thanks for this hint.  It works, however, it defeats the purpose of Outlook.com maintaining a list of email addresses not in Contacts, which is to aid you in sending emails to people you've previously contacted, yet, who you haven't felt it worth putting into your Contacts yet.

The ability to delete addresses from this list by pressing the delete button when they were highlighted (or by clicking on the 'X' when one was displayed) used to work in Outlook.com.  It no longer does.  This is a regression and thus should be a high priority for development.  It should also be noted that this is the way the feature behaved in prior implementations of Outlook (non web versions).

2. Click the Cog icon then choose More mail settings
3. Under Customizing Outlook, select Advanced privacy settings
4. Choose Only suggest people in my contact list under Auto-complete suggestions
5. Click Save

 

Note: Please ensure that the email address that you want to remove from the To field is not in your contacts.
