How to delete one mis-spelled email address from auto-complete list

I previously mis-spelled an email address when sending a message .... and now, that mis-spelled address is displayed in the auto-complete list each time I begin to type the correct email address.

This is NOT an issue with my contact list ... I do not have a contact defined for this address.

I do have this option enabled:  Give suggestions for anyone I've communicated with (contacts and non-contacts) and I want to keep that option enabled. I realize that I could select this option: Only suggest people in my contact list, and the mis-spelled address would not appear in the auto-complete list .... but I want the auto-complete function to give suggestions from both contacts and non-contacts.

What I am looking for is the ability to delete one entry from the non-contact addresses that are maintained by the auto-complete feature. Can this be done in Outlook.com??

    Ken_Rey_C:

I am having this problem on several different computers .... all running Windows 7 (fully updated with all patches) ... with both Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 17.0.1

Please read the following post VERY CLOSELY because I do not think you have understood what I said in my previous post. Again, read this post very very carefully and follow the steps I list to reproduce the problem I am having.

When I first open the page to compose a new email, I see EXACTLY what you showed in your previous post. The TO field is empty, and just below the TO field, the words "Frequent contacts" appear. Just below the words "Frequent contacts", a list of addresses are shown. Each of these addresses do have an X on the right side. But the address I wish to delete is NOT in the "Frequent contacts" list.

Let me repeat that so that you do not miss the point ....

The address that I wish to delete is NOT SHOWN IN THE FREQUENT CONTACTS LIST.

The address to be deleted is not a frequent contact .... the address I wish to delete is an auto-suggestion (based upon the first few letters that are typed into the TO field).  The only way to get the address I wish to delete to be shown in the suggested list of addresses (displayed below the TO field), is to start typing that address in the TO field.

The moment that I start typing an address into the TO field, the words "Frequent contacts" disappear, and the initial list of frequent contacts disappear .... auto-suggested addresses then do appear below the TO field. However, the auto-suggested addresses that do appear (when I start typing into the TO field) DO NOT HAVE AN X ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF EACH ADDRESS !!!!  THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

Again, please let me repeat myself for clarity.

The address that I wish to delete only appears in the list below the TO field after I start typing the first few letters of that address. However, once I type the first few letters of an address into the TO field, and the auto-suggested addresses appear below the TO field, those auto-suggested addresses that appear below the TO field DO NOT HAVE AN X ON THE RIGHT ... so I cannot delete the address that has a typo.

Follow these steps and tell me if you reproduce the problem I am trying to describe:

    1. Open page to compose a new message.
    2. Start typing the first one or two letters of an address into the TO field.
    3. Observe the list of auto-suggested addresses.
    4. Do each of those auto-suggested addresses have an X on the right?

Again, the problem I am describing occurs when one types the first few letters of an address into the TO box ... the resulting auto-suggested addresses DO NOT have an X on the right.

I NEED YOU TO PRECISELY FOLLOW THE ABOVE STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM.

    Hello langware,

Please ensure that you're using an updated browser. If you’re not using an updated browser, some parts of Outlook might not work and it might not display properly. To know more, please refer to this **link**.

To remove the specific contact in the auto-suggestion list, hover your mouse pointer to the X mark as shown in the above screen shot and click the X button.

    Thanks,

    Camille,

Thank you for your reply, but your suggestion DID NOT WORK!

    I followed your directions ....

    1. I opened a new message.
    2. I clicked the To text box.
    3. A list of frequent contacts did appear ... however the specific email address that I want to delete was not in the frequent contacts list.

The email address I want to delete is NOT in my contact list. It is in the auto suggestion list.

When I begin to type the person's address, then the auto suggestion list shows two addresses: the address with a typo (that I want to delete), and the valid address (that I want to keep).

However, once I start to type into the To text box, and the auto suggestion list is displayed, there is no X mark beside the addresses in the auto suggestion list.

So, there is no way (that I know of) to delete an entry from the auto suggestion list.

Can you try to reproduce this problem yourself (first type an address in the TO box that has a typo, and send an email to that address .... so that address is inserted into your auto suggestion list). Then tell me if ...

    A. You are able to reproduce the problem but cannot delete the address with a typo from your auto suggestion list.

    B. You are able to reproduce the problem but are able to delete the address with a typo from your auto suggestion list (and please fully describe the steps to do so).

    C. Are not able to reproduce this problem.
