When trying to add my old Hotmail alias to my Outlook account, I get this message: "This email address is part of a reserved domain such as live.com, hotmail.com, or msn.com. Please enter a different email address."

How can I add my Hotmail account to my Outlook?

Hi,

As I understand you want to accounts to share one mailbox. Let me assist you on this.

If you have two Outlook.com accounts, you can’t add this as an alias for the other since they are already Microsoft account.

If your third party account was already registered as Microsoft account, you cannot also add this as alias. You can only add an existing email address as an alias if it is not yet registered as Microsoft account.

If you want to manage several accounts in one mailbox, you can use mail client like Windows Live Mail. You can also use Outlook.com to send and receive emails from other account that uses POP.     Hi CM,

    You can no longer add in @Hotmail.com as an alias for a Microsoft Account. You can only 'reactivate' your old Hotmail account by signing it up once more as a brand new Microsoft Account on https://signup.live.com.

    Dear Forum, today I attempted to create an alias using and accidentally deleted my 18 year old primary email address from the list of other visible accounts in the list.  I've been on my laptop for 6 hours trying to retrieve the account.  

    Although I still have the folders associated with my deleted primary account using the alias, its plain to see that the alias account is unknown to the multitude of services and customers I use on-line.  The alias can receive new emails in respect of the deleted account.  

    I don't know what else to do.  I have important task to deal with of which is causing me untold stress.  When I try to create a new account using the deleted accidental account the system says that the primary deleted account is still active and won't let me create a new one using the same credentials. It says this email is part of a domain and can't be used as an alias.  

    Please no pass codes or anything like that i just want to get back my deleted account.  I will sit down and learn how alias work after the fact.

    Well, I made an Alias because I didn't find a certain Xbox Volunteer helpful with my question, and upon making this new Alias, my main address for everything was removed. Now on my mobile device my Email says it is unable to be logged into and I am unable to get my Email back as an Alias because "it is part of a reserved domain"
