When trying to add my old Hotmail alias to my Outlook account, I get this message: "This email address is part of a reserved domain such as live.com, hotmail.com, or msn.com. Please enter a different email address."

How can I add my Hotmail account to my Outlook?

Hi,

As I understand you want to accounts to share one mailbox. Let me assist you on this.

If you have two Outlook.com accounts, you can’t add this as an alias for the other since they are already Microsoft account.

If your third party account was already registered as Microsoft account, you cannot also add this as alias. You can only add an existing email address as an alias if it is not yet registered as Microsoft account.

If you want to manage several accounts in one mailbox, you can use mail client like Windows Live Mail. You can also use Outlook.com to send and receive emails from other account that uses POP.     Hi,

    I am also having an issue with the move from Linked Accounts to the new Alias implementation. I had 2 Hotmail accounts that were linked, then when the new Alias feature was released I trialled moving an ******@outlook.com alias from one account to another and it was successful.

    Based on the success of the above, I am in the process of moving my original ******@hotmail.com Alias, however I get this as an error "This email is part of a reserved domain. Please enter a different email address.". I cannot even add this Alias back to the original account. I would appreciate it if you could help me move my original @hotmail.com email address to my desired account, or if not possible back to the original.

    Hi M.OmarMuftakhar,

    We understand your concern about your other account and we will assist you. If you have old emails and folders with your GMAIL account you can always check it with your GMAIL interface. Only emails and folders stored in Outlook.com will be deleted.
