When trying to add my old Hotmail alias to my Outlook account, I get this message: "This email address is part of a reserved domain such as live.com, hotmail.com, or msn.com. Please enter a different email address."

How can I add my Hotmail account to my Outlook?

Hi,

As I understand you want to accounts to share one mailbox. Let me assist you on this.

If you have two Outlook.com accounts, you can’t add this as an alias for the other since they are already Microsoft account.

If your third party account was already registered as Microsoft account, you cannot also add this as alias. You can only add an existing email address as an alias if it is not yet registered as Microsoft account.

If you want to manage several accounts in one mailbox, you can use mail client like Windows Live Mail. You can also use Outlook.com to send and receive emails from other account that uses POP.     I have the same problem. When I go to 'Add an alias' I get this;

    Add an alias

    Your account can have up to 10 aliases, each of which lets you sign in to all the devices and services that use a Microsoft account. Your aliases share a single password, and you can send and receive emails with each. Learn more about account aliases.

    Hi,

    I'm happy to assist you with your concern regarding adding an existing email address as Microsoft alias.

    Please be informed that you can only add an existing email address as an alias if it is not a Microsoft account.

    Example: Google and Yahoo.

    You cannot also add a custom domain that registered in Windows Live Admin Center.

    Well it still doesn't make any sense to me. Third party accounts all have inboxes as well, don't they?

    Regarding what you say about email forwarding, This is exactly why it's no good for me and why I'm wanting my other addresses as aliases.
