"Silent" Notification Doesn't Work On Outlook.com Android App

Downloaded and configured the Outlook.com app for my HTC One and it will play any audible notification that I select except for "Silent".

settings > General > Notifications > Email Notifications > Audio Notification

If I do select "Silent", it still plays an audible tone - a tone unique to the application. It doesn't sound like any other selectable tone.

Even if I uncheck notifications, the tone still plays.

I really like the application, but I can't use it if it refuses to be silent on each new email :)

Hi LMFPeach and FlipmodeMF,

Thank you for getting back to us. Since the option to turn the sounds off on Outlook.com app does not work, then there is a possibility that the Outlook.com app itself is causing this issue. It might be that the Outlook.com app is faulty.

Now, we recommend that you uninstall the Outlook.com app and download the latest version of it from the Play store. Once done, we recommend that you turn the email notification sound off by following the steps below:

1.       Open the Outlook.com app on your mobile device.

2.       Tap on the Menu option.

3.       Tap on Settings.

4.       Choose General.

5.       Choose notifications.

6.       Click on email notifications and then make sure that the box is unchecked.

7.       Tap on Audio Notification.

8.       When you get into your notification, choose the "silent" button.

    I had the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy tablet, with Android 4.1.2, with everything turned off I still got notifications, even with the app uninstalled! I searched through every setting including sub-headings and found not only do I have a Flight mode but also a Driving mode. With Driving mode set to on (as mine was) all other settings are over-ridden with audio notifications of all calls and new e-mails.

    Perhaps said "hidden" switch should be more accessible, I found it in Settings>Language and input>Text to speech output>Driving mode - Incoming calls and new notifications will be read out automatically.

    The App has no general option after settings anymore :(

    I do not want to be forced to uninstall this app because of the annoying sound that i have no control over.

    The oprion got moved ,  click the account first then the options for sounds are there

    The only option I can find in mine is for calendar notifications. I do not see any options for messages themselves.
