"Silent" Notification Doesn't Work On Outlook.com Android App

Downloaded and configured the Outlook.com app for my HTC One and it will play any audible notification that I select except for "Silent".

settings > General > Notifications > Email Notifications > Audio Notification

If I do select "Silent", it still plays an audible tone - a tone unique to the application. It doesn't sound like any other selectable tone.

Even if I uncheck notifications, the tone still plays.

I really like the application, but I can't use it if it refuses to be silent on each new email :)

Hi LMFPeach and FlipmodeMF,

Thank you for getting back to us. Since the option to turn the sounds off on Outlook.com app does not work, then there is a possibility that the Outlook.com app itself is causing this issue. It might be that the Outlook.com app is faulty.

Now, we recommend that you uninstall the Outlook.com app and download the latest version of it from the Play store. Once done, we recommend that you turn the email notification sound off by following the steps below:

1.       Open the Outlook.com app on your mobile device.

2.       Tap on the Menu option.

3.       Tap on Settings.

4.       Choose General.

5.       Choose notifications.

6.       Click on email notifications and then make sure that the box is unchecked.

7.       Tap on Audio Notification.

8.       When you get into your notification, choose the "silent" button.

Let us know how things turn out. Feel free to post back if you have further questions.

    Karla, thank you for your reply. I fixed the issue - I don't use Outlook any more.

    Wawny, please don't abandon Outlook just yet!

    Read my posts (very nearby): the problem is caused by an "invisible" button (it says 'Audio Notification' on it, but looks exactly like a page header so nobody would think to press it).

    You can fix this in a jiffy.  We just need Microsoft to acknowledge the mistake they've made in the UI and fix that for us!   :-)

    thanks for the update - the 'audio notification' button that looks like a heading but is actually 'the button' sure did confuse me.

    Now that has been pointed out to me it works perfectly.....

    Same problems here extremely annoying note 3 ver 4.4.2  I don't want adds,spam in my email program like adds for other apps and no e mail notification sound if it set it to have no email notification sound.

    Guess why i don't want to use the outlook.com app

    Can't turn of the e- mail notification sound

    @dejligman75:  Please read the thread!  The problem with the email notification sound is RESOLVED!
