I want to rename/merge an account. I have an old hotmail account I want to merge with an existing one, that I created using the new outlook address. I didnt find the rename option in hotmail, untill after I created the new account. I want to merge these two, so that my current hotmail will be a alias, and my skydrive storage will become my outlook skydrive, with the same storage. Please help.

Why change it? There's no requirement to do so. If you want to use the Outlook.com interface, simply log into http://www.outlook.com/ using your Hotmail Microsoft ID.
You are not following correctly.

I wanted to rename my account. And I have succesfully done so in a much shorter time then deleting my hotmail account. That and I wanted my 25 gb skydrive storage moved over to my new outlook. Which it did, the problem is that when you rename your hotmail address to a outlook address using: click on gear-moore options-rename account. It is supposed to give you a option to make a folder for all your old email (hotmail go to) I was not given this option, some type of error occured and displayed a message, it would not load, so I refreshed the page. and it was too late the account was renamed.

When I log into my account and go to view my linked account names under my name in the right hand corner of my outlook address, shows only a couple other accounts. However when I go to the account settings page and select manage linked accounts....there it is, my old hotmail address as if it is a separate account. I however can not link to this account, I can not sign into it directly, which means there is something that went wrong it is stuck in limbo. I can access my emails. I have sent test emails to it, they do not go to my new outlook address. My old hotmail was to become essentialy an alias email address and have a folder present with the other folders like Inbox, sent, deleted...."@hotmail.com".
Your old address should be an alias of the new address. The new folder that has the name of your old address is completely optional and you can easily create it yourself by creating a rule with Options>More mail settings>Rules for sorting new messages. That's all that would have happened anyway. If the conversion didn't create it for you, simply create it for yourself.
Did you try to add the old address as an alias manually?
The problem is, I dont even receive the emails for the hotmail address. They are not going to my outlook. Yet I can not log into my hotmail as a separate account.
A Hotmail support person will have to address that. They should see this thread.
