Rename/Merge a Hotmail and a Outlook Account

The way I got around it, I closed one account and waited I believe 3-6 months. The user account can't be used by other users, yet until I think a Year, but I was able to create and alias with it. Another one of my accounts, I did wait a year, but all the others was for a few months. Now all my email address fall under one account. There also may be a merge feature.

I appreciate Microsoft's focus on privacy, but by deleting the examples of "dummy" accounts I included in my post, I realize Microsoft's privacy measures mean my question may not make sense anymore. Let me try again:

I am encountering the same problems outlined in this string - 2+ years later and am hoping the the MSFT team has resolved these issues and there is finally a simple fix.  To summarize, I have been using a hotmail address for years and I grabbed an outlook.com address name (let's call it "PreferredOutlookAccountName") before understanding that I could have simply created an alias at my Hotmail account.   Now I have my "old" Hotmail account (let's call it "OldHotmailAccountName") and my separate outlook account, PreferredOutlookAccountName.  I now want to rename OldHotmailAccountName to be PreferredOutlookAccountName. 

Because PreferredOutlookAccountName is an existing account, I can't use  PreferredOutlookAccountName  as an alias for OldHotmailAccountName.  For the reasons outlined at great detail in this string previously (numerous subfolders, OneDrive, etc.), I want to preserve the integrity of the OldHotmailAccountName  account but use the cooler, hipper and less oldfogeyish outlook.com domain name.

How can I achieve this seemingly simple goal?  Simply forwarding mail from PreferredOutlookAccountName to OldHotmailAccountName  won't work, because when I reply to a forwarded message, the original sender will receive an email from OldHotmailAccountName, and that will create confusion and be a huge nuisance.

This can't be that hard for the geniuses at Microsoft - I "own" both accounts (and actually pay for OldHotmailAccountName and for extra OneDrive storage). 

Does anyone (esp MSFT tech support) have a failsafe solution to offer?

Even if the accounts still can't be merged, I would be happy if MSFT would simply allow me, as the "owner/creator" of both accounts, to use the PreferredOutlookAccountName  as an alias of the OldHotmailAcountName . . .  it shouldn't be that hard, should it?
