Rename/Merge a Hotmail and a Outlook Account

I am encountering the same problems outlined in this string - 2+ years later and am hoping the the MSFT team has resolved these issues and there is finally a simple fix.  To summarize, I have been using a hotmail address for years and I grabbed an outlook.com address name (let's call it "******@outlook.com") before understanding that I could have simply created an alias at my Hotmail account.   Now I have my "old" Hotmail account (let's call it ******@hotmail.com) and my separate outlook account, ******@outlook.com.  I now want to rename ******@hotmail.com

to be ******@outlook.com. 

Because ******@outlook.com is an existing account, I can't use ******@outlook.com as an alias for ******@hotmail.com.  For the reasons outlined at great detail in this string previously (numerous subfolders, OneDrive, etc.), I want to preserve the integrity of the ******@hotmail.com account but use the cooler, hipper and less oldfogeyish outlook.com domain name.

How can I achieve this seemingly simple goal?  Simply forwarding ******@outlook.com to ******@hotmail.com won't work, because when I reply to a forwarded message, the original sender will receive an email from ******@hotmail.com, and that will create confusion and be a huge nuisance.

This can't be that hard for the geniuses at Microsoft - I "own" both accounts (and actually pay for ******@hotmail.com and for extra OneDrive storage).  C'mon Mr. Gates, I continue to tell the geeks in my IT department that we will NEVER switch to Apple at my company, but if this can't be fixed, maybe  . . .

Its not just on my mobile I cant access skydrive, my desktop skydive will not sign in, it says there is a problem with my account.

With regard to your issue about not being able to receive emails sent to your Alias, we would like to ask for the screenshot of your Account aliases page and Managing your account specifically Your email accounts page so that we can investigate the issue further. You can get a screenshot by following the instructions on the links provided below:

• For Vista/Windows 7: Use Snipping Tool to capture screen shots
• For XP: Take a screen shot
• Mac Computers: Please refer to your computer’s help directory

Here are the steps to get to your Account aliases page:

1. Sign into your account at https://account.live.com
2. You can view your alias/aliases under Account aliases.

Meanwhile, you can refer to these steps to view Your email accounts page:

1. Sign into your account at https://mail.live.com or https://outlook.com
2. Click the Cog icon and select More mail settings
3. Under Managing your account, choose Your email accounts
4. You can view all the email accounts that you can use to send to and receive from on this page.

Note: I have opened a Private Message tab for you to be able to provide the screenshot there. You need to sign into this website and click the link that states, "You have a private reply to this message..." or click Private Messages across All Replies to see the tab.

Furthermore, I recommend that you post your query about not being able to access SkyDrive through a mobile device in this link as the Forum Moderators there can best assist you regarding that issue.

I found a way to break the error, I reset my password, now I can open and read and write mail, however I am no longer receiving my alias email. Also, my skydrive is not accessable from my phone or from the desktop app. I really need my skydrive to work it backs up my photos from my phone.
