I am tired of all the junk mail I get. the more I block the more I get WHY?

I have tried and tried to block all the sexual emails I get in my Junk folder the more I block the more I get.  WHY?  There is not a way to restrict them I have tried.  Please I am so tired of them.  I want to close my Hotmail account I have had for years, that is how sick and tired of them I am.  Because my name is the email account you just let anyone post email to it? I would hate to close my account, and I like my name being on it.  How can I fix this it is important.

* Added on 21 July 2022 because so many people are being brought to this thread by a search.

If outlook.com is sending these messages to Junk, they're being (in outlook terms) "blocked."

You cannot create a rule to delete or do anything else to these messages. Rules don't work in the Junk folder.

Look through the Junk folder every day or two to see if legitimate messages were sent to Junk and delete the messages that really are spam/junk.

We're sorry for the inconvenience as you're receiving a lot of Junk mails. Let me see what  I can do to help you with this problem. Just to make sure  I won't be providing you same steps, can you please give us the exact steps you've taken in blocking those e-mails? Let us know.

If you haven't tried blocking the e-mail address or domain whose sending you those e-mails, I suggest that you do so. Check out the following steps:

Check your Blocked sender list.

Sign in to your account. Go to inbox.

  1. Click Options located at the upper-right side of the page.
  2. Select More Options.
  3. Under Preventing junk email, click Safe and blocked senders.
  4. Click Blocked senders. ( add the e-mail address or domain/website in the field under Blocked email address or domain: )
  5. Click Add to list >>.

    Well I see that this thread has been going since 2013 and good old #Microsoft has chosen to ignore it. I have two accounts - one hotmail which I keep very private and literally use for family, friends and the odd thing like the security package I use. I rarely get sexplicit junk or any other kind.  However, I have a newer account on outlook set up for the specific purpose of property searches and moving house, twitter and website  logins.  It's been live for about 8 months now and I get about 100 of these wretched spam emails a day.  I wonder if it's the sites I've logged into such as righmove that gives the email address away?

    Being female I'd love to know how the penis enlargement works (NOT FUNNY) and happily married I'm obviously desperate for a f***buddy etc.  :(

    I have drawn one conclusion - no matter how many people complain (I'm 449th on this thread alone) #Microsoft don't give a s***.  They have a massive market and they don't care because people still use the products.  I think the ONLY way to get them to listen would be for all of us who have same issues to boycott hotmail/live/outlook accounts in favour of gmail.  #Microsoft know that people won't or can't do that so they're effectively saying 'moan all you like but screw you, we don't care, you'll stay anyway'.

    Once I've moved house I intend to drop the outlook account and move to gmail where such nonsense is removed without question or any effort.

    I so totally agree. I have been with Microsoft sense its beginnings and I am so disappointed in its attention to this issue. I do with out a doubt plan to delete my account. So sorry to say, but one must take a stand some times. I am only one in a million, but I have morals and standard's.

    Obviously Microsoft does not give a fling !!!  this is so annoying !!  I changed my password and it stopped for 2 weeks and right after bang !!!  how come when we block an email the same freaking one is back with Viagra stuff and nude chicks ???  

    I use more Gmail now at least i dont have that crap 

    the Gmail  account is 4 years old and never had problems Thanks Gmail !!!

    I've been all over looking for a solution to this. I give my email address out to companies I personally have to deal with, and their first time email goes to my junk folder. I have to look through a couple of hundred of sexually nasty titles to find my one I'm expecting.  I have to read them so I don't miss it before I delete the bad ones. I don't understand why we have to tolerate "sexual harassment" in our folders. Anyplace else would be up on charges for allowing this to take place in our homes. It's not okay.
