I am tired of all the junk mail I get. the more I block the more I get WHY?

I have tried and tried to block all the sexual emails I get in my Junk folder the more I block the more I get.  WHY?  There is not a way to restrict them I have tried.  Please I am so tired of them.  I want to close my Hotmail account I have had for years, that is how sick and tired of them I am.  Because my name is the email account you just let anyone post email to it? I would hate to close my account, and I like my name being on it.  How can I fix this it is important.

* Added on 21 July 2022 because so many people are being brought to this thread by a search.

If outlook.com is sending these messages to Junk, they're being (in outlook terms) "blocked."

You cannot create a rule to delete or do anything else to these messages. Rules don't work in the Junk folder.

Look through the Junk folder every day or two to see if legitimate messages were sent to Junk and delete the messages that really are spam/junk.

We're sorry for the inconvenience as you're receiving a lot of Junk mails. Let me see what  I can do to help you with this problem. Just to make sure  I won't be providing you same steps, can you please give us the exact steps you've taken in blocking those e-mails? Let us know.

If you haven't tried blocking the e-mail address or domain whose sending you those e-mails, I suggest that you do so. Check out the following steps:

Check your Blocked sender list.

Sign in to your account. Go to inbox.

  1. Click Options located at the upper-right side of the page.
  2. Select More Options.
  3. Under Preventing junk email, click Safe and blocked senders.
  4. Click Blocked senders. ( add the e-mail address or domain/website in the field under Blocked email address or domain: )
  5. Click Add to list >>.

    Don't worry everyone, I suffer the same pain. The way to get it to stop is to just delete them when you have them. NEVER. ABSOLUTELY NEVER CLICK THE UNSUBSCRIBE LINKS UNLESS YOU WANT MORE OF THE MAIL. When you click on the unsubscribe link it will take off that one website but then like 5 more websites will get sent to you because every time you unsubscribe it uses cookies to spam you once again. My advice, just delete it.

    Recently (March 2017), Microsoft has finally blocked the emails with the crazy email addresses that end in a bunch of numbers.  Finally, and thank you Microsoft.  I report anything that looks suspicious, including all **** related emails, as phishing scams.  It takes a while to go through and do it, but maybe the fact that I did helped prod Microsoft into blocking these types of emails much better.

    How to stop spam from multiplying.

    In addition to the advice given here, also try turning off your preview reading panel.  

    Many of these spam emails contain beacons that signal to the spammer whether or not your email address is a "live" one or not.  These beacons will be triggered when the email is opened, which includes reading the email via the preview panel.  Once the spammer's computer knows your email address is active, then they will increase the number of spam emails sent to your email address.  

    Once you have turned the preview panel, when you spot an offensive spam by reading its subject line, then immediately delete the offensive spam (or program Outlook to do this on your behalf).  

    This will not stop you from being spammed, but it will stop the spam from multiplying.

    Bill Gates, Chairman of the Board *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

    Steve Ballmer, CEO – *** Email address is removed for privacy *** / <phone number removed>

    J. Allard, CTO – *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

    Robert Bach, President, Entertainment and Devices Division – *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

    Joe Belfiore, Corporate VP, Entertainment and Devices eHome Division – *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

    Kathleen Hogan, Corporate VP, Worldwide Customer Service – *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

    They will quickly find a solution to the crappy service and all the freaking porn sites sent to everyone! Someone from their own company has sold our emails to third parties, thus all the junk porno emails!!!

    They cannot erase this response due to 1st amendment!!
