I am tired of all the junk mail I get. the more I block the more I get WHY?

I have tried and tried to block all the sexual emails I get in my Junk folder the more I block the more I get.  WHY?  There is not a way to restrict them I have tried.  Please I am so tired of them.  I want to close my Hotmail account I have had for years, that is how sick and tired of them I am.  Because my name is the email account you just let anyone post email to it? I would hate to close my account, and I like my name being on it.  How can I fix this it is important.

* Added on 21 July 2022 because so many people are being brought to this thread by a search.

If outlook.com is sending these messages to Junk, they're being (in outlook terms) "blocked."

You cannot create a rule to delete or do anything else to these messages. Rules don't work in the Junk folder.

Look through the Junk folder every day or two to see if legitimate messages were sent to Junk and delete the messages that really are spam/junk.

We're sorry for the inconvenience as you're receiving a lot of Junk mails. Let me see what  I can do to help you with this problem. Just to make sure  I won't be providing you same steps, can you please give us the exact steps you've taken in blocking those e-mails? Let us know.

If you haven't tried blocking the e-mail address or domain whose sending you those e-mails, I suggest that you do so. Check out the following steps:

Check your Blocked sender list.

Sign in to your account. Go to inbox.

  1. Click Options located at the upper-right side of the page.
  2. Select More Options.
  3. Under Preventing junk email, click Safe and blocked senders.
  4. Click Blocked senders. ( add the e-mail address or domain/website in the field under Blocked email address or domain: )
  5. Click Add to list >>.

    I found that my email address that I use for Ebay and Paypal is where the harvesting of email addresses is found.  A scammer on Ebay was from Russia which I didn't see until it was too late.  After that the sex emails flooded the junk box.  I have blocked the domains and they use every possible domain in Russia, Ukraine, Romania, and the United States.  They bounce these emails to the fake domain accounts they create.  If you buy anything online, no matter where (Ebay, Amazon, Sears, Tiger Direct, etc.) your email account is being harvested and sold in lists.  It is really up to the email provider (Microsoft or Yahoo).  A lot of the emails just target any combination they can come up with.  The Microsoft email lists are also being either hacked or sold because the spam is ridiculous.

    I agree that just abandoning the email address is probably the only resort and going with accounts that block those spam mails upfront before they get to the junk mail folder.  Reporting them as phishing doesn't help because the domain and email address is constantly changed as others have said.  I tried to block using the 'if contains' rules to no avail.  Just makes you wonder who is profiting in addition to the spammers/hackers.
