I am tired of all the junk mail I get. the more I block the more I get WHY?

I have tried and tried to block all the sexual emails I get in my Junk folder the more I block the more I get.  WHY?  There is not a way to restrict them I have tried.  Please I am so tired of them.  I want to close my Hotmail account I have had for years, that is how sick and tired of them I am.  Because my name is the email account you just let anyone post email to it? I would hate to close my account, and I like my name being on it.  How can I fix this it is important.

* Added on 21 July 2022 because so many people are being brought to this thread by a search.

If outlook.com is sending these messages to Junk, they're being (in outlook terms) "blocked."

You cannot create a rule to delete or do anything else to these messages. Rules don't work in the Junk folder.

Look through the Junk folder every day or two to see if legitimate messages were sent to Junk and delete the messages that really are spam/junk.

We're sorry for the inconvenience as you're receiving a lot of Junk mails. Let me see what  I can do to help you with this problem. Just to make sure  I won't be providing you same steps, can you please give us the exact steps you've taken in blocking those e-mails? Let us know.

If you haven't tried blocking the e-mail address or domain whose sending you those e-mails, I suggest that you do so. Check out the following steps:

Check your Blocked sender list.

Sign in to your account. Go to inbox.

  1. Click Options located at the upper-right side of the page.
  2. Select More Options.
  3. Under Preventing junk email, click Safe and blocked senders.
  4. Click Blocked senders. ( add the e-mail address or domain/website in the field under Blocked email address or domain: )
  5. Click Add to list >>.

    Michael,

    I agree the filters aren't solving the problem and dread looking in my JUNK folder everyday because I'm hit with a barrage of filth.  

    One thing I have learned is that if you request to unsubscribe, then they know they have a 'live one' and hit you even harder with this filth.

    Personally, I'd like to publicly drag everyone of these people responsible for writing this filth out into the street, and horse whip them within an inch of their life.  I know a wrong doesn't make a right but it would sure deter would be filth spammers if it were possible to see exactly whose putting this out.

    I know identifying these spammers is possible, but we choose as a society to just chalk it up to, "Well it's junk mail and everyone just has to deal with it."

    This is the same problem that I have.  When I try to block this stuff, it says it's coming from MY EMAIL ADDRESS.  

    This is so FRUSTRATING!

    I support Michael's comments. It's time this was resolved. Some of the emailspurport to come from my own email address which I have listed to block.

    Hi there, 

    I am so fed up with all the emails with the sexual content that land in my JUNK folder... I have contacted MS on several occasions and they play it down saying that their filters are basically working "great" since they ARE going to the Junk folder and will automatically be deleted in so many days.... ALL of the TIME and SETTING UP RULES everyone is doing is useless and a waste of time per MS rep since the sorting is only for mail that is destined for the inbox or lands in the inbox.  Mail that is rerouted to the Junk folder cannot have rules made for as they see this as their security working.  I asked the rep for their email so i can forward lots of pleasant emails from "Ananda" and "Young Asain Women" and "Viagra"... they did not want to give it to me.  

    I just don't understand why my gmail account literally never gets any junk or spam mail AT ALL.  What do they do so different from Hotmail.  Even all of the financial junk mail is annoying.  And since it goes to the Junk email box THERE IS NO WAY TO FILTER IT and RULES AND BLOCKING do nothing for Junk folder emails.  

    Finally... even if we were able to make rules for the Junk folder, the email addresses that are being used to send the crap are constantly changing even though the Senders names and Subject Lines are quite similar (but even those change F# to F* and Viagra to VIAGRA, ect..... 

    WHY CAN'T WE MAKE RULES FOR EMAILS THAT GO DIRECTLY TO THE JUNK FOLDER SO WE NEVER HAVE TO SEE THEM (and look through them is a must to make sure an actual IMPORTANT email did not accidentally go to Junk...which happens an any system).  MS thinks that if an email is "caught" and goes to Junk then they are doing a great job... I think you would all agree a great job would be not seeing this sexual nonsense once and for all.  How are we supposed to check out Junk email folder while at work or at home with children looking over your shoulder.  

    PLEASE HELP!!! I have had this email for so long and would hate to have to call it quits.... I really don't know why I have not already.... creature of habit and don't like change I guess.
