Authentication Failed Error on mobile phone

When trying to access my email on my android phone, it says authentication failed.  I logged into my account on the computer, and it works.  I deleted my account on my phone and tried to set it up again.  I still get the authentication error.  Any ideas??  I have been getting my emails on my phone for over 3 years with no problem (same account.

I have Android 4.03 and this wouldn't work.  It isn't just a firmware issue, it is a problem with the app which only seems to work when you're on Wifi (not when on 3G/4G/LTE).

    No good for Motorola as they do not have an upgrade for defy. so stuffed!

    Outlook will not work with firmware version 2.2, Motorola do not have an upgrade for their defy mobile, so those of us with that or similar mobiles are well and truly stuffed. give us back Hotmail!

    Has it been confirmed that the outlook app will not work if your Android firmware is lower than 2.3 ???  Specs on Google Play does indicate 2.2 and higher !!   My Samsung phone runs on  the 2.2.2 version and no upgrade seems available.  I've been experiencing the "Authentication Failed - Retry " problem since we were forced to upgrade from Hotmail to Outlook.com.  I have been trying almost on a daily basis all the tricks on this thread  and others  without any success. 

    Please help!
