Authentication Failed Error on mobile phone

When trying to access my email on my android phone, it says authentication failed.  I logged into my account on the computer, and it works.  I deleted my account on my phone and tried to set it up again.  I still get the authentication error.  Any ideas??  I have been getting my emails on my phone for over 3 years with no problem (same account.

I have Android 4.03 and this wouldn't work.  It isn't just a firmware issue, it is a problem with the app which only seems to work when you're on Wifi (not when on 3G/4G/LTE).

    The reinstallation and verification doesn't work. Hotmail just redirects me to the outlook app, so that's a worthless solution. You're going to have to do better than that.

    The workaround does not work. The old Hotmail app prompts me to update to the new Outlook app

    My issue is solved. I just installed the Outlook.com app from April 18 has solved the issue.

    Just found out that if you are using Android 2.2 the Outlook app will not work, only works for firmware version 2.5 or above. I/Motorola donot have an update available for my mobile so I cannot access my emails via mobile. Please give us back Hotmail.
