When trying to access my email on my android phone, it says authentication failed.  I logged into my account on the computer, and it works.  I deleted my account on my phone and tried to set it up again.  I still get the authentication error.  Any ideas??  I have been getting my emails on my phone for over 3 years with no problem (same account.

I have Android 4.03 and this wouldn't work.  It isn't just a firmware issue, it is a problem with the app which only seems to work when you're on Wifi (not when on 3G/4G/LTE).

There are good instructions how to get rid of the app and go back to the old Hotmail app in the 'most helpful reply' here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/mail-sync/why-does-my-phone-app-for-outlookcom-keeps-giving/c52c6772-c73e-4014-adbe-b9a7cff3c041?page=1

    Hi,

Can you confirm if you've changed your password recently? This issue usually occurs when using a long password that your device's application cannot read due to character limits. The initial step to resolve this issue is to change your passwordto a shorter one (try using an alpha numeric password to make it a strong one), remove the account from your mobile phone then set it up again once your password has been changed.

If this doesn't help, kindly post the exact error message that comes up on your screen so that we can further investigate the issue.

    Thanks!

I have the same problem and your guidance does not help. The error message is: "Connection failed. Authentication error."

I too have been having a problem adding my hotmail back on to my Android phone.  I have the

Stratosphere and the error I receive is ...Account Set Up Error    80345: The password and username you entered did not authenticate with your email provider.  Please try again.

I have been trying for 2 days to add Hotmail back on to my phone.   I deleted it off because I was having difficulty receiving e-mail and I tried everything to fix it.  Finally I deleted the account  and tried to reinstall with no avail.

I tried changing passwords as well.  Still nothing...same error.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

    Kim
