Authentication Failed Error on mobile phone

When trying to access my email on my android phone, it says authentication failed.  I logged into my account on the computer, and it works.  I deleted my account on my phone and tried to set it up again.  I still get the authentication error.  Any ideas??  I have been getting my emails on my phone for over 3 years with no problem (same account.

I have Android 4.03 and this wouldn't work.  It isn't just a firmware issue, it is a problem with the app which only seems to work when you're on Wifi (not when on 3G/4G/LTE).

    Hi S.Naren,  was you able to change your hotmail to outlook as described. I had the same problem and found out hotmail was bought or taken over by outlook so i had to change the account in the settings to outlook. all my hotmail came through to my android after i did it. Can you try doing the settings i laid out. if you are unable to do i will try helping you. Regards Bob. I can phone you if you are really stuck doing it. No problem at all.

    I have been getting emails all the years , now it shows authentication gailed in my android phone it's become nuisance to me to sign up
