Authentication Failed Error on mobile phone

When trying to access my email on my android phone, it says authentication failed.  I logged into my account on the computer, and it works.  I deleted my account on my phone and tried to set it up again.  I still get the authentication error.  Any ideas??  I have been getting my emails on my phone for over 3 years with no problem (same account.

I have Android 4.03 and this wouldn't work.  It isn't just a firmware issue, it is a problem with the app which only seems to work when you're on Wifi (not when on 3G/4G/LTE).

    I got my phone verification code on my galaxy s7. when I try to get the code and phone verified the codes as I have tried at least 4 times with different codes. the codes wouldnt work at all. message comes up code not excepted or not working

    I have a HTC Android phone and the same problem started on Wednesday 7th June 2017.  I have an authentication error on my email account.  I went to a Telstra store and they told me to change my password, however I have searched the net and can't find how to do this.  Can anybody help with this problem.
