Hi Insiders-

There is updated search functionality in the latest Insider Fast update of OneNote for Mac that many people have been asking for; view this thread Mac: search fortags. To get the update, go to Help > Check for Updates, and opt into the Insiders program and choose the Fast updates. If you have Insiders Fast builds 16.18.0 (18091900), or newer, you should see the feature.

We would love to receive feedback from you multiple times.  We want to hear your initial impressions, but we would also like to hear from you after you have used it for a week to understand if your initial dislikes/likes stayed the same or switched after you used it for an extended period of time.

There are 2 ways to send us feedback.

  1. Please click the Smiley-face button in the top corner of the OneNote window
  2. Tell us what you are experiencing on this Answers Forum thread

Thanks

No, it did not work. I believe that quoted search is a part of the testing, is it not? I have the Insider Fast update on it. It also includes searching for tags.

Problem is that the quoted search is not working for all quotes, as shown below.

    Hello--

Everyone should have the new Search capabilities.  There are possibly three reasons you are not seeing it.

    (1) Make sure you have version 16.20.0.18120801 or higher

If you installed OneNote as part of Microsoft Office for Mac, then open OneNote, go to the Help > Check for Updates menu to launch the Microsoft AutoUpdate app and follow instructions there. Update all of the Microsoft Office applications, since they all use the same keychain items. To learn more, see Check for updates in OneNote 2016 for Mac.

    (2) The tag search may be hidden from your view depending on how your navigation pane settings were set.   If you hid your navigation pane, [ View > Navigation Pane > Hide All], the search button is not visible.  For it to appear, you need to set you Navigation Pane View setting to either Hide Section List or Show Sections and Pages or use Command +F as someone on this forum suggested.

    (3) Use Command+Q to actually quit the app and open it again. That likely will solve the issue.

    I hope this helps.

The update coming up is for the OneNote for Mac app, correct? I don't believe that OneNote came with Office 2019 that I got last month.

Also, is there any way to get it sooner than 2 weeks? I take notes for classes, and without the updated search function, I will have to use another program until the update comes out.

    Thanks!

    Kim

    Thanks!
