MacOS "Another account from your organisation is already signed in on this device"

I have an Office 365 subscription through my work, after recently updating Office, every time I now open Word, Excel or PowerPoint, I am prompted to sign in and activate the product. When I try to, I get this error “Another account from your organisation is already signed in on this device".

I have tried multiple suggestions as follow :

My Office apps are all up to date and I am running macOS Monterey Version 12.6.

Excel for Mac version is 16.68.

Thank you for your support.

[Moved from Subscription, account, billing/For Business/Accounts, groups management, and sign in]

EDIT : upgrading to macOS Ventura (13.0.1) didn't solve the issue

I solved it by logging in as a user from a different organisation entirely. This gave me the opportunity to log out from various accounts that had been logged in earlier.

Does not work for me. And to make things even worse, the Office install broke OneDrive, hard. To the point where it just crashes now. If I do get a OneDrive login window I plug in my primary account and it takes me to a list of all of the other tenants I'm logged into.

MICROSOFT, something is embedded in the system that is not being removed by all of these third party tools. I don't know if it's because of the interaction with Teams or if there's a kext buried somewhere that has a history of all the tenants you've ever logged into. I can also tell you that I've been removed from a number of these tenants because they are no longer clients. If I don't exist in those tenants, why are you still associating me with them? Because you've buried these logins somewhere in the OS and you don't clean up your garbage! Or Teams is holding onto them with a death grip and not cleaning up it's garbage.

    NOTHING IS WORKING!!!

I will now be forced to either give up on this particular Mac or reformat it and start over, essentially rebuilding my life. Thanks, Microsoft.

Open Terminal and paste the following command:

defaults write com.microsoft.Word ResetOneAuthCreds -bool YES

    Worked for me!

    Hi,

I've had similar issue and for me it worked this way:

    1. Remove additional account from Outlook (so there is just one)
    2. Open Keychain and remove every entry related to Microsoft / Office
    3. Reboot Mac
    4. Open Excel and sign in

Fortunately I didn't had to use any 3rd party software

Did anyone else from your organization ever log in using this Mac? It would seem so and they did not log out.
