Outlook search bar moved to the title!?

I'd love to see that data. Maybe they get more data, more search results.

But it doesn't account for the huge difference in how it works (having to enter before it searches) and the other downsides.

I work with data too. More results doesn't guarantee a better experience or a happier customer.

Well, *finally" a Microsoft reaction on the whole issue. I am going to look for a replacement for Office 365.

I normally am calm and and respectful, but now ... <removed> Microsoft!

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback through UserVoice, Coming Soon, in product feedback, and on related blog posts.

 

We investigated adding an option to support search in the old location. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot support making the search box location configurable. Future Microsoft Search updates are incompatible with the old location. There is also significant risk in maintaining the old search component due to increased complexity that leads to a higher rate of bugs. As one of the most used controls in Outlook making sure that we provide a stable and reliable search experience is one of our top priorities.

 

While it won’t address the feedback of having the search box in a new location, we do have fixes coming soon to address specific feedback about the new control. The first fix to arrive will be adding back the right click Copy\Paste menu. After that we have a fix coming to make changing scope easier by adding a more prominent scope changing control. You can read more details about these fixes in our blog post.

While our search success data is showing that the majority of users are having more success with the new search experience, we understand that moving the search box is a big change that can be disruptive. From the product team, thank you for your patience as we continue to learn how to make Outlook changes easier going forward and continue to work on improving the search experience.

Many people, like me, were frustrated by the fact that the drop-down suggestions obscured the very tools we needed for searching.  I just discovered that if I hit Esc when it drops down, it goes away & I can use the tools.  Silly design, I know, but there's a quick and familiar  fix for it.

I dont have “coming soon” in my outlook window.  

Has anyone seen this before. Any advise on how to move back to default position?

Please off the coming soon, u will get the search bar as usual.

FYI, not everyone in Insider actually sees "Coming Soon."

That was a problem last time, a couple years ago, when they first came up with the idea, and it's a problem this time, too.

There's some other variable beyond just having an Insider build, but I never could figure out what it is.

Yes and no thanks for the "Clean Views" idea.  Nobody warns you to think about the custom views that you spent time to create.

Although I did see someone indicate you could move the search bar over to the right I cannot figure out how to do that.

Maybe someone could clear that up.
