Signatures no longer working

Since the last update, my signatures are no longer functioning. When I select signatures in a new email window, it does not list any - it is simply blank, the divider bar, and then the menu option to open the Signature editing panel:

Then, once in the Signature editing panel, only my signatures for my exchange-based email account appear. Otherwise, all of my email accounts appear when I click the drop-down menu to select a different (IMAP/Gmail) account, but when I select any of the non-exchange email accounts, it shows "Accounts are not available.":

If I then click on the drop-down again, it opens a pop-up window stating "This option is available only when Microsoft Outlook is running. Do you want to start Outlook?"

Regardless of if I select either Yes or No, nothing happens.

Clearly, Outlook is already running, I am using Outlook to test this stuff. My signatures are there in the appdata folder as well, so it is not an issue of missing signatures either.

The steps I have attempted to resolve:

  • delete and remake signatures
  • run Outlook in safe mode
  • fully uninstall and reinstall office
  • delete all accounts, fully uninstalling and reinstalling office, and then adding the accounts again

This issue only started occurring earlier this week. So, is this just a beta issue, or is my office/outlook just completely broken?

    Hi All!

    I had the same issue with a Google Workspace email account on Microsoft Outlook for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2209 Build 16.0.15629.20152) 64-bit.

    I was able to fix it by disabling on the Registry the Microsoft Outlook Roaming Signatures feature.

    Hope this will help you!

    Hi all,

    The Outlook In App Team has escalated this issue to the Outlook Team for a fix. If you urgently need to workaround it switch to CC Preview or CC channels. The issue only affects Beta and Dogfood channels at this point. I'll post back when we know the bug will be resolved.

    Thanks BarkingCorgi36. Reverting to 2207 worked for us as well. Below are the steps I took...

    Used the Office deployment tool detailed here to revert: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-revert-to-an-earlier-version-of-office-2bd5c457-a917-d57e-35a1-f709e3dda841Used this xml file:

    <Configuration>

    <Updates Enabled="TRUE" TargetVersion="16.0.15427.20210" />

    </Configuration>

    Disabled Office updates for now via group policy following this guide...

    Confirmed, I'm on 2208 Build 16.0.15522.20000 and still having this problem and it's really been a huge inconvenience for weeks now. As someone who uses Microsoft 365 and Outlook to support multiple email accounts across different business domains, having to copy and paste different signatures for each account I switch between to email clients/vendors, it's a huge hassle and a big waste of time every day, every email.

    Additionally, I can't even use the support option within Outlook because it tells me to check my network connection - on the same computer that I'm online and replying to you from, and from inside an Outlook that actively sends and receives emails constantly. But I'm not sure what else I expect when trying to insert a signature tells me I need to be running Outlook, when I'm in Outlook staring at that error.

    Please provide an update on when this will be fixed.

    Hi all,

    Just to update the fix for signatures not working will be in Beta build 15519.10000. That build is not yet created so it will likely be a week or so before it becomes available. In the meantime, if you urgently need to work around it you can switch to Current Channel Preview or any other channel.
