Teams on iPad video rotated 90 degrees when using external display (iPad OS 16.2)

Hi all, I have a strange issue when using an external display (Dell S2721DS connected via USB-C to HDMI cable) on an iPad Pro M1 11".

If Teams is on the external display (extended, not mirrored), my outgoing video is rotated 90 degrees so I appear sideways to others in the call. When I move the Teams app to the iPad display it reverts back to the correct orientation.

This is also happening with Zoom, but not FaceTime. Can anyone else replicate this behaviour, or does anyone know a fix for it?

    This is unrelated to IOS versions. Teams needs to be updated. Seems like a simple thing, but apperently it’s low on the backlog.

    Temporary fix: disconnect monitor, start teams call, reconnect monitor.

    This issue with Microsoft Teams on iPad has been beyond frustrating! It’s been nearly two years since this was reported, and Microsoft still hasn’t fixed the problem. Every other major video conferencing platform as Zoom, WebEx or FaceTime has already handled this, yet Teams is the one platform where we still have to deal with sideways video on an external display. How is this still not resolved? For a company as large as Microsoft, you’d think they could address something as basic as screen rotation on an iPad. It’s ridiculous that we have to wait this long for a fix! Prioritize this issue already!

    Wow, miracles really do happen. My external camera works when an external monitor is connected.

    Still missing:

    • Sharing individual apps

    • Sharing the external monitor

    • Camera view while sharing

    • And the ability to open multiple Teams windows simultaneously, e.g., being in a meeting and wanting to open one or two chats.
