Keeps asking for Phone Permissions to join meetings

On Android, all of a sudden, Teams repeatedly says, "Teams Needs Permission" "If you want to place a call or join a meeting, go to settings and allow Phone permission to Teams."

It then takes you to Android Settings for the Teams app, and the "phone" permission IS allowed.

I've rebooted.

Cleared cache.

Cleared data

Reset the database.

Left developer preview.

Reinstalled Teams

Left the Beta and done all of the above over and over.

It isn't honoring the permissions that are set. So I can't join any meetings. Please advise.

You can follow these instructions to leave the beta: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7003180?visit\_id=638036158090676779-4036069234&p=beta\_testing&rd=1

Basically you leave the beta, uninstall the app, then reinstall it and you'll get the stable release. I would wait a few minutes after leaving the beta as it can take a little while - the change isn't instantaneous.

    You should see this at the top;

Then scroll down until you see this:

If you don't see that, uninstall the app directly from its info page and then download the stable release from APK Mirror.

I have a support case open with Microsoft and they said that they have been monitoring this thread, and realize that it is impacting a large user population, but that they have to convey that to the backend Microsoft Teams Development group responsible for the application and that they will follow-up next week.

Apparently there isn't a lot of priority towards them pushing out a break and not resolving it rapidly. I suppose if a larger user population were affected (like if they push this out to all of their deployment rings), that this would have more precedent and immediate response. Unfortunate. #unimpressed

Have been following this thread to see a resolution. Finally able to get it back to working.

    1. Cleared the cache and date
    2. Force Stopped the app (Android)
    3. Uninstalled Teams
    4. Left Beta program

----------5. Installed the app back right away

    ----------6. Still does not work
    7. Did the same steps as from step1 to Step 3 after hour and reinstalled the app
    8. Voilà, starts working.

Yeah, changing beta status (joining or leaving) can take from minutes to hours to update. I think it says this somewhere in the instructions. It's definitely not immediate, so uninstalling and reinstalling right away won't work.

I figured out if you're logging into a meeting (you can see the join screen) and you hit 'cancel' you will login to the call like normal. Obviously this doesn't solve everything but, maybe a workaround for now.
