How can I download a video clip that was recorded and sent in Teams chat?

Hi,

A college recorded and sent a short video clip in Teams chat. The clip was recorded by a mobile device directly from the recording function in Teams chat: Send a video clip in Teams - Microsoft Support

I can view the video clip the Teams chat, but I want to download the file. The file is not in the "file" tab in the chat.

How can I download the video file from the chat?

    Hi folks,

    I found another workaround since I can't install a screen recorder on my work PC, and it works as long as whoever sends it can send the file as a standard file attachment, not media.

    I was able to test this sending a screen recording from a mobile device through the mobile app by saving the video in my iPhones Files, then selecting the paperclip attachment option, not media attachment. Sending as a file gives me the receiving user on a PC the same 3 dots and Download option described in an earlier response.

    Hope this helps whoever comes next! Thanks for the previous responses, it gave me this idea.

    Yep this is good. Initially you can't find it in your files, so you have to go to the photo app, find your video, save it to files, and then go do the attach as paperclip option.

    This problem is so stupid, but I've found a solution:

    1. Go to the Teams mobile app
    2. Without opening the video, press and hold it to bring up message options
    3. Tap "Share video"
    4. Share the video to a file storage app such as OneDrive or Dropbox
    5. The file will download and save in the location you chose.

    Hopefully this workaround won't be necessary for much longer.
