Hi,
A college recorded and sent a short video clip in Teams chat. The clip was recorded by a mobile device directly from the recording function in Teams chat: Send a video clip in Teams - Microsoft Support
I can view the video clip the Teams chat, but I want to download the file. The file is not in the "file" tab in the chat.
How can I download the video file from the chat?

Hey, you can download it when you use the mobile version of Teams and share through the usual channels.

This worked for me. My video clip was only 15sec long, so it wasn't too big to send.
Microsoft needs to make this as straight forward as downloading a picture. Way too difficult. Should not have to use multiple accesses to simply download something.
Instead of having the user send the video from their teams app, have them navigate to their phone camera library, click SHARE, and then if MS Teams is an app on their phone, they will be able to share to TEAMS, and send it to you. The upload takes substantially longer, but NOW the video will be in a format where you can download it. Let me know if that worked for you. Best of luck!

The link you provided explains how to save a Teams meeting recording.
As noted above, "It is not a recording of a meeting, but a video clip recorded by my college in the video function in the Teams chat (add -> media -> camera -> video)."
