Can't connect Bluetooth headset to Android Teams

This seems to be an ongoing issue. I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Until recently I had no problems connecting my Bluetooth headphones. Now I cannot. My AKG, NuraTrue, Sony wh1000mx5. All fail. I cannot find any setting in my phone app that allows me to choose my headset like the pc application does.

This appears to be an issue with MS Teams, not user error, device connectivity, etc.

I have tried the following advice previously posted without success.

  • Clearing the cache of your Android phone's Teams app by signing out and closing the Teams App. Then go to Phone Settings > Apps & Notifications > Teams > Storage & Cache > Clear Storage and Clear Cache and confirm your action. After that, please re-open the Teams App and sign in again to see if it makes a difference.
  • Unpair the device from Bluetooth devices (Forget devices), then reconnect.
  • Updating to the latest version of Teams for Android phones should resolve the issue, and Bluetooth should work properly with both devices

Please provide advice on how I can fix this issue. It is critical for my work.

TIA

Hi NatashaGoode,

You may try the other options below. Hope that one of the solutions will solve the issue.

  1. Check also the apps permission on your phone like camera, microphone and also nearby devices.

Go to Settings -> Apps -> Teams -> Permissions -> Allow access to "Nearby devices"

  1. Try to connect with your bluetooth device first before you open the Teams.

Please let me know if this doesn't work or if you need further assistance.

Thank you.

    Greetings,

Had the same issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled Teams mobile. Upon reinstall, I was asked to give access to nearby devices. I chose YES. Was then able to use my bluetooth device.

    Regards.

I have the same issue since 4-5 days. Bluetooth device is connected to mobile and it works for music and phone calls as well. But doesn't work for teams. It is not just with bluetooth buds , same issue with car bluetooth as well. So looks like some defect in teams(mob version on anrdoid 12) introduced recently.. I am able to connect on Windows teams using blue tooth and able to properly shift to blue tooth device.

    Can someone check this.?

Once in a teams call with your Bluetooth device turned on, press the call/answer button on your Bluetooth and you will connect to Teams meeting/call audio.

This is not intuitive because bluetooth typically takes over call audio when turned on in other calling apps, but apparently this is not the behavior in when using the Teams app, although it has been in the past. None of the other troubleshooting tips worked for me. I can also confirm that my Bluetooth handset is working with Teams when configured for Call audio only (media audio turned off). I also do not have the nearby devices permission turned on for Teams. The behavior is the same regardless of that setting-- I must push the call/answer button once on a teams meeting to switch over from phone audio to the bluetooth headset.
