Delete a Plan in New Teams Planner

I am using New Teams.

I want to delete a plan I created but can't work out how.

All online advice refers to 3 dots or "settings" that don't exist, and perhaps are referencing Classic Teams.

The plan is listed under Shared Plans.

The App is called Tasks by Planner and To Do (By Microsoft)

For those who are still having this issue, at this current point in time you still can't delete a plan directly through teams, but you can do it through the Planner web app in the browser. I was able to do so by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Teams channel where the plan is located.
  2. Click on the dropdown of the "Tasks" tab at the top of the channel (or whatever plan you are trying to delete).
  3. Click "Open in browser" to open the plan in your browser.
  4. Click the 3 dots at the upper middle of the screen, next to Grid, Board, Charts, Schedule, Timeline.
  5. Click "Plan Settings".
  6. At the bottom of the side pane, click "Delete this plan".
  7. Check "I understand that this plan and all of its tasks will be permanently deleted", then click "Delete".

Just a note, it won't necessarily be called "Tasks" - the tab name will be whatever you called the plan. Also, you should be able to delete the plan through the Tasks web app (https://tasks.office.com/), if you created the plan through the new Teams planner app:

  1. Go to https://tasks.office.com/
  2. On the left of the screen (desktop mode), select the plan you are trying to delete (you may have to click "Show More")
  3. Click the 3 dots at the upper middle of the screen, next to Grid, Board, Charts, Schedule, Timeline.
  4. Click "Plan Settings".
  5. At the bottom of the side pane, click "Delete this plan".
  6. Check "I understand that this plan and all of its tasks will be permanently deleted", then click "Delete".

    It's helpful to note that the "Delete this plan" option is not available for you if you created the plan in a Teams group and you are not an administrator of that group.

    Which is probably something that should have been said in all the different times people were trying to help.

    My problem is even bigger...

    I had some of those personal lists in ToDo also and I deleted them before I started to work with the new Planner app. But... they still show up as personal plans in the Planner app. Since they were already deleted and should not excist anymore, I can't delete them in the ToDo ór Planner app anymore, so I am stuck with those personal ghost plans.

    I contacted Microsoft support, but even they could not tell me where those plans are saved in the background and I was told to let my IT department at work make a support ticket for this.

    If someone would have a solution, I would be really thankfull

    Well, this is just brilliant. I just wasted an hour of time trying to figure out how to use Microsoft's productivity tool. I am using the new Planner in MS Teams and can see a whole bunch of things under "My Plans". Within the TEAMS Planner app and the Planner web app I could not find a way to Delete a plan that I had previously created. Around and around I went with no luck.

    It turns out that the items I was trying to delete under PLANNER -> MY PLANS were not Plans but are actually Lists created in the MS To-Do app. By going to https://to-do.office.com/ I was able to delete the Lists which then were automatically removed from the MS TEAMS PLANNER - My Plans list. There is noting in the user interface to indicate where these "plans" were created and that some of My Plans are actually To-Do Lists.

    The lack of a clear workflow in a tool that is supposed to enhance productivity is mind boggling. I would switch to ClickUp in a heartbeat if my company would provide it. Microsoft you are trying to do everything for everyone all at once and making a mess of the situation. You should scratch all of the Planner, To-Do, Planner with To-Do and other convoluted variations and make a simple tool to list tasks and assign them to someone with a due date!
