today in a meeting on teams, someone accidentally put their thumb up and on my screen, an animated thumbs-up popped up. it was in a blue chat bubble and the thumbs-up was white so it wasn't like the normal thumbs-up. also during that meeting, the person moved and an animation of fireworks popped up behind them. They could not see these animations but everyone else in the meeting could. They took the meeting on their iPhone. Could anyone point me in the direction to get more info about these animations?

You're right. The documentation about this feature for end users and admins is not available in a timely way.
Given that this feature is on the social side of a business feature, I feel MS's comms hasn't been planned/executed as well as it should be.
This response completely missed the question. It was not about clicking a button, it was about a person that raised their thumb.
For the balloons - do the peace gesture.
one thumbs up = thumb up appears in an bubble
two thumbs up = fireworks
one thumb down = thumb down in a bubble
two thumbs down = rainstorm
heart with your hand = hearts
peace sign = balloons
To enable live reactions in Microsoft Teams, you can do the following:
In a meeting:
Click the Meeting controls button.
Click the React button.
Select the Allow reactions check box.
The issue I have with this answer is that this is not always user controlled - this was turned on by default at app level without my knowledge and happened on random calls. i know I didn't enable it myself as there is no way on earth I would ever want this. I also know that the IT administrator didn't enable it because that is also me.
Fortunately it happened in an internal meeting so I didn't look like an idiot in front of clients. On the other hand maybe it did, and the clients were too polite/horrified to say it.
For anyone else who finds themselves in this situation go to settings > appearance and accessibility > animation and click 'turn off animations'.
