Double beep when muted on Teams Shokz Headset

I saw a thread on Reddit (here) where Shokz was aware of it, and if you submitted a case, they were shipping free Bluetooth dongles that solved the problem. I saw a post somewhere that they are longer shipping them for free, but you can buy one for $49.95. I have opened a case, but didn't even get an email acknowledging my case. There are other brands of bone-conduction headphones, and I bet I can get a decent pair for < $49.95.

I don't know if this is Teams, Windows, or Shokz-related, but it's annoying. The Shokz are great for calls. I don't like earbuds as I can't hear external sounds, and it makes it harder for me to gauge my own voice volume, which is why I like the Shokz. It sounds like this may not be strictly related to Shokz, which makes me think it falls on Microsoft.

This is beyond frustrating. It's a shame that we had to use the two-button trick in the first place, and now the trick doesn't work anymore. I talked to Shokz and they are saying this is a Microsoft issue and they are working with them to resolve. All of this started after a Windows update.

Neither workaround work for me as well (pressing both buttons, using the small microphone button). I don't understand why Microsoft is not fixing the problem? It started after Teams update, many months ago.

Another workaround that works for me (probably should work for everyone), but not convenient by any means is as follows:

• After muting, select the computer microphone (not "audio devices", just the microphone. SHokz will say "mute off", but you will still be muted
• If you want to unmute to talk, select Shokz microphone again temporarily and unmute

Again not a solution, but a workaround to get by for now.

This is clearly a Shokz issue and not Teams. It may well be that MS has altered something with Teams that Shokz is incorrectly handling. I have tried other BT headphones with no issues.

Very disappointing that after extended communication with Shokz they have no serious intentions to address the issue, even so far as telling me that OpenRun is not meant to be used as a conferance call device and I should really buy a pair of OpenComm! How rude is that !!

The only suggested solution that works for me is the use of Device Setting to flip the mic source to the laptop's and flip back when need using Shokz.

Further more there is no way for me to mute/unmute OpenRun pro using the headphone device buttons. Apparantly holding +/- buttons together for 2 seconds used to work but no longer. Very poor product design and function from Shokz. They should be embarressed.

I have been fighting the beeps for awhile and today this worked for me on a windows box.

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > [Your device] > Properties > Services > UNTICK Handsfree Telephony > turn headphones off and back on > re-connect device.

Then my aftershokz headset is back to normal.
