New Teams prompting "The parameter is incorrect" error.

For anyone getting this error message:

msteams_autostarter.exe "the parameter is incorrect",

we are working on the fix as we speak, we have the root cause and will be updating soon with the proper resolution.

So far, I haven't found a 100% permanent fix for this, but I have found a few fixes that will at least get New Teams to open. The first is to open Teams Classic, let it ask you if you meant to open New Teams instead, and tell it to open New Teams for you. An alternative fix, which works for all users on a machine (if you're on a shared computer) is to explicitly grant permission to all users to execute in the MSTeams_%versionnumber%_x64_8wekyb3d8bbwe" folder.

When New Teams is installed, users are not given permission to the entire "C:\ProgramFiles\WindowsApps\MSTeams..." folder, they are given execute permission only to files which contain the SYSAPPID MSTEAMS_8wekyb3d8bbwe.

I'm not sure, but I think when an update tries to run, it doesn't contain that exact app ID or something so New Teams stops working. If you give all users permission to execute in that folder, New Teams opens just fine.

The only problem being, New Teams makes a new folder with every update. 😡

I would agree with you on the AV. Based on my discussions with Microsoft, New Teams is flawed and their recommendation was to revert back to Classic Teams.

I honestly gave up and followed Microsoft's recommendation and reverted to Classic Teams. I now have Classic Teams issues and not the new & improved issues.

I can tell you this, if my firm put out work as poor as this "New Teams", we would be in jeopardy of legal action.
