Microsoft Teams Copying Name, Timestamp, and Message

Must be the fault of a new Teams version for sure. I guess this was meant as an improvement, in some cases it even might be when you just want the text.

But most of the times I want the time stamps and person names copied for reference.

How about letting the user decide?

Right Click on highlighted area -> Copy message text only | Copy with time stamps

Ctrl+C -> Copy with time stamps

Ctrl+Shift+C -> Copy message text only

The workaround is not really workable, as already stated it copies a lot of clutter and combines lines of text which should not be combined.

Thank you for the quick response. I will report this issue to my senior engineers for ticket submission. I also appreciate the workaround, however the way you provided also copies a lot of unneeded information that I cannot use and will take a lot of time to delete.

My sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this might be causing you, after thorough testing, I reproduced your issue at my side. It could be Microsoft changed something at backend. I will report it to replated team. The Workaround I found is to hold mouse for selecting the message with Time and sender you want then use CTRL+C for copy and CTRL+V for paste while you are still holding mouse. Therefore, I will update this thread as soon as I get more detail information about the query and fix.

Also, if you have the organization admin permission, you can also raise a service request to report this symptom to our online channel through the O365 admin center. A support agent can further connect with you remotely, for further troubleshooting and involve the backend team where need be. Re-enabling the feature to include Names and TimeStamps would be very much appreciated.

In my organization we are finding the same issue.

Seems like this is an issue Worldwide as there is way too much additional information showing up which makes business groups in my org frustrated as they relay on the time stamp information for auditing purposes.
