My Airpods Gen 4 is very soft when I am on a Teams call in the app.

Huge shout out to S. Arnold and any others who forwent the dozens of technical troubleshooting recommendations and realized the “fix” was as simple as increasing the volume on the device itself (by swiping up on the stem).

To do this I think you have to be in an actual call on the Teams Desktop app, so I used the Test Call feature in Settings>>Devices so I didn’t have to tinker with it in an actual call. Once I increased the volume manually with the swipe it defaulted to that louder volume for all calls going forward.

If you close Teams and restart you may have to repeat this for the first call you have but once you get a hang of the actual swiping gesture it’s pretty easy. I had to Google how to videos and watch myself do it in the mirror before mastering it!

All the other troubleshooting tips did nothing for me because the problem wasn’t the AirPods or the Teams Desktop app on their own, but the combination of the two and how they interact with each other. I agree it is strange that you don’t have to do this manual swipe gesture in any other app or Teams online and can simply use the volume mixer, but at least I’m not going to have to return them now since my main use case was Teams calls at work and I prefer the Desktop version.

Again, this applies exclusively to the AirPods Pro (I have 2nd gen released in 2023) which has the physical swipe function to change the volume. There is no indication on the screen or in the volume mixer that the volume has been changed, you can only tell mid-call when you actually hear the volume increase so I recommend repeating the Test Call feature until you get it right.

Although that might work for AirPod sPro (2nd gen) this thread is about Airpods 4 and yet we have NO response and NO fix from Microsoft. This is bad, really bad.

PS: The "fix" given somewhere in this thread will disable the MIC so that is not an option of course
