Audio not coming through Bluetooth Headset

Seemingly randomly, Teams will not output audio through my Bluetooth headset (microphone will consistently work). The only way that I have found to fix it is to restart my computer. This problem is specifically with Teams, system sounds, browser sounds, and Zoom calls will all give audio to the headset, even if teams is not. I am able to see my headset in device settings in Teams and can select it. If I change the audio to output through my laptop speakers, I am able to hear audio.

Some troubleshooting I have tried:

  • Swap around audio devices within Teams
  • Disconnect Headset from laptop
  • Ensure Headset is forgotten from laptop
  • Restart Laptop (This will always fix the issue for an unspecified amount of time

The Bluetooth headset that I am using is Steel Series Artic 9. I can consistently get this headset to work with other Bluetooth devices, such as my personal PC, my wife and my phones, my wife's laptop. So the issue seems to specifically be teams on my work laptop.

Here are 2 examples on when I have seen the issue pop up.

  1. Connected for my first Teams meeting in the morning, audio worked fine. Joined a new meeting 1 hour later and there was no audio. The headset did no disconnect, and was left on until the next meeting.
  2. I put my laptop to sleep when I am not working (been turning it off the past week) when I wake the laptop when I begin work again, the headset will not have audio through teams. This is random as some days it would work and others it would not.

Same issue here as well. Multiple bluetooth enabled devices, all work everywhere on the Win10 machine except with Teams.

Output is not heard from Teams via bluetooth. From time to time it does come up, when you toggle a change for the speaker setting under devices. But no pattern. Bluetooth mic seems to be fine.

Just rubbish, have reverted to wired headset, which has no issues.

Multiple computers, different bluetooth headsets (one Bose noise cancelling, one set of AirPod Pro, one set of Pixel buds), microsoft surface running win 11, surfacebook also win 11. Audio works everywhere else, system, zoom, but in teams, it is selectable, but no sound or mic. Have tried all the items from full uninstall and reinstall of teams and headsets, the fact it is on multiple computers with the same issue isolates it a bit from local issue and points at "new" teams.

Yes, same symptoms and problem for me. It works after every reboot and then just lasts one meeting. It works again if I reboot and very randomly it works for the 2nd meeting but then it is gone again. Turning off and on the bluetooth, repairing the headset, disconnecting and reconnecting nothing works. I did even "Reset PC" to freshly install the image but it is the same again. And as someone mentioned above, even YouTube and other applications doesn't work and just keeps loading (in chrome) all the time but doesn't play once the issue occurs. Also, it seems to be only with teams and the funny part is the problem is so sporadic that it works on my colleague's laptop without any issues. (who has the same windows image as mine, the only difference being he uses HP Elitebook 840 G8 and I use G7).

    Trying to get this alive.
I also have the same issue.
The first meeting will work fine, the next one the mic will fail.

    Only a reboot helps.
There was a short time it worked, but now it doesn't.
    I'm using a brand new Dell Precision 5480 with a Bose QC35.

The problem is only on Teams.

Mine worked for a bit, too. But now it's inconsistent again - works for one meeting, doesn't work for the next. I feel like I'm developing a reputation in the office for being technologically incompetent or unprepared.
