This is quite a foolish suggestion, but I have tried it and it doesn't work.
In addition to this, please consider that requiring users to perform such actions rather than improving your application to be on par with basic functionality provided by competitors is a strange way to approach this problem.
Please raise this with the product owner and development team as a critical issue and update the community on the status of this issue by firstly acknowledging it rather than pushing it to users, and providing meaningful updates on actions taken towards resolution. This is a development issue, not a user issue.
Bluetooth being unusable on Android devices is a serious flaw.
