How do I stop teams from turning my headset volume up to 100% in the "App volume and device preferences" before each call?

The title says it all. The only way to prevent my ear drums from bursting is:

  1. Join a call before anyone else
  2. open Settings
  3. search for "Sound mixer options" (which takes you to the "App volume and device preferences" screen)
  4. turn the teams volume down for my headset

This happens 100% of the time and it's absolutely ridiculous.

    Yes, the device volume is down where I want it until I start a Teams call. Then, as soon as I connect, it gets forced to 100%.

    This is a Teams issue. Not a device issue.

    You might want to check if your bluetooth driver is also up-to-date, if that doesn't seems to be the issue, I'll invite you to report this at the feedback portal.
    From the bottom lower-left of Teams app > Help > Report the issue, with that, the necessary team will be able to look further into your concern.

    I had to turn off the "Sync device buttons" option to stop this behavior.

    I also have this issue, where the volume is forced to 100%, overriding my system settings, however it happens to me not only when I'm joining a call, but when I get a notification about a teams chat message and it doesn't matter if I have Bluetooth headset connected or just use my laptop speakers.

    I might be watching a video on 30% volume and hear an ear-piercing "ba-ding". Then I have to immediately turn my system volume down from 100% because my video is way too loud. This is very annoying and I'm sure not beneficial to my auditory health.

    I have the same issue. During teams meetings, the audio is set to 40%, if someone writes to me the sound jumps to 100%. - using MacOS
