How do I stop teams from turning my headset volume up to 100% in the "App volume and device preferences" before each call?

The title says it all. The only way to prevent my ear drums from bursting is:

  1. Join a call before anyone else
  2. open Settings
  3. search for "Sound mixer options" (which takes you to the "App volume and device preferences" screen)
  4. turn the teams volume down for my headset

This happens 100% of the time and it's absolutely ridiculous.

    I am also having this issue, and it's actually caused me problems at work as (at an IT company) people don't think that I am a competant worker.

    I've come across a bit of a work around

    1. Open Settings > System > Sound
      1. Set the volume under output to what you want everything normal to be (eg 35%)
    2. Scroll down to Advanced > Volume mixer
    3. Adjust any teams values to 100%
    4. Make a test call in teams and pay attention to the volume level under the system heading (not apps heading you just changed), if it scrolls on its own to a higher level (and your ears get blasted....) .. this is where the 'fun starts'
    5. End the test call. Give it a good 5-10 seconds or the next test call does not seem to trigger the ringer/notification
    6. Start a new test call and as the ring starts, click on the approx volume you want on the 'system ringer' (eg 40%)
    7. end the test call and go back to step 5 until you get it right. You seem to get about half a second to adjust the volume for the notification/ringer

    This also seems to set the in call default volume (and seems a touch quite to me), but you can still use the speaker icon to increase the volume while on the call.

    After this, I still have the issue that other sounds loose fidelity, but at least my ear drums don't get blasted!

    How has this not been fixed? What do these devs even do? This is absolutely basic functionality. Unacceptable

    I have the same issue. During teams meetings, the audio is set to 40%, if someone writes to me the sound jumps to 100%. - using MacOS

    I have the same issue. Lawsuit for hearing damage is beginning to cross my mind.
