How do I stop teams from turning my headset volume up to 100% in the "App volume and device preferences" before each call?

The title says it all. The only way to prevent my ear drums from bursting is:

  1. Join a call before anyone else
  2. open Settings
  3. search for "Sound mixer options" (which takes you to the "App volume and device preferences" screen)
  4. turn the teams volume down for my headset

This happens 100% of the time and it's absolutely ridiculous.

    Hi Martha,

    To reproduce on Windows 10 Enterprise:

    1. Make sure your bluetooth headset is connected
    2. Open Settings
    3. Search for "sound mixer options" and click on the result
      1. NOTE: the title of this new screen is "App volume and device preferences"
    4. Open Teams if it's not open
    5. Join a call (it can be a test call)
    6. Note the volume for the headset Teams is using is automatically adjusted to 100% (I hope this doesn't hurt your ears)

    After I adjust the volume for my headset in the "App volume..." screen and start another call, the volume for the headset gets set to 100% again.

    Also, this is my work laptop so I'm not able to change versions of teams nor update to Windows 11.

    May I know the audio device you're using and does this also happens when you're not connected to any external audio device (headset).

    I've tried multiple headsets. Anytime a bluetooth headset is used this happens.

    When I'm not connected, Teams uses the system volume and doesn't adjust anything.

    Have you tried checking your device volume, sometimes if the device volume is set to maximum, it overides the teams volume setting.
    You might also want to check if there is any available update for the teams app on your device and complete the required update.
