Teams (for work) crashes when sharing screen

Shortly after sharing a screen (within ~15 seconds), Teams will crash.

This happens consistently, and repeatedly -- it is therefore impossible to share my screen.

The crashing began roughly 2 weeks ago -- previously to that, it was working flawlessly.

Related System/Hardware/Settings information:

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro - 22H2 - Build 22621.819
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
  • RAM: 32GB
  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 3080
  • Teams: GPU hardware acceleration - ENABLED
  • Windows: Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling - ON

Thing I have tried:

  • Reinstalled Teams
  • Disabled GPU hardware acceleration inside of Teams

I collected and analyzed the diagnostic logs, and found the related crash event:

It appears the renderer process crashed, with an exit code -1073741819.

Why is Teams crashing when I share my screen, and more importantly, how can this be fixed?

    Same, my monitor is 2000 nits, switching is brighter than the sun. This problem has been around for a while.....

    OMG, I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THE HDR-screen setting of my NEWER LG MONITOR IS THE REASON OF WHY I LOST HOURS OF MY LIFE!!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE ! I JUST GOT MY NEW LG HDR MONITOR IN APRIL !

    I FINALLY ACTIVATED THE HDR last week and now I had spent 2 hours doing all kind of troubleshooting because the TEAMS could be used on the 2 old monitors but NOT in the new monitor with HDR- settings !!!!

    so every time that I switched to the new monitor teams just crash ! and said that it was a glitch, I have images and videos of every time that I try it , I had 2 IT guys helping me until I found this comment, THANK YOU !

    NOW WHAT DO I DO WITH THE NEW LG HDR MONITOR THAT I CAN'T USE?,

    THE HDR WAS THE ONLY REASON OF WHAT I PURCHASE IT : (

    Is there any other monitor with HDR that does not crash TEAMS ?

    I have the same issue whether I use the web version or the app. I was also hoping the new Teams would sort out the problem, but that crashes too.

    Thank you for providing detailed information and logs for your scenario.

    So that I advice accurately, I have already started researching and consulting on your scenario internally.

    Also to Isolate the scenario I just want to confirm, are you encountering the same issue if you share screen using the Teams web app in the browser.

    Nothing works.

    The only solution that seems to work is to use the WEB version and not the app.
