A few more thoughts about this problem and the Microsoft community site this issue is posted on.

    1. I don't believe the Microsoft developers use their own Teams to communicate with others and then record chats in Azure DevOps for history as we do daily. Else, they wouldn't put up with this new "feature" that seems like one developer added with narrow focus and not much thought to the larger group of users. Breaking basic Windows COPY/PASTE that we've known and relied on for approx. 30 years takes an extremely narrow focus on an uncommon use case for general users, or even developers perhaps.
    2. This forum doesn't appear to be the right place to truly report bugs and then let others vote them up for resolution. I don't see any Microsoft representatives taking ownership of the problem and posting feedback. Where can (or has) this bug been properly reported and able to be voted up by the user community?

Hey Everyone, found this on another thread reporting this issue. Please take a minute to go to the link in the below message and log your complaint

I had this issue investingated last week. Here is the response from Microsoft:

I have shared the video with the senior team, and they have confirmed that this is indeed a new update in Microsoft Teams. It was a feature requested on the user feedback page.
This update is being rolled out to all tenants globally, not just to your users.

Additionally, some customers are advocating for this to be an optional feature, and hopefully, that will be implemented as well.

Hi Inema, Do you have any updates on this? As mentioned in my comment below (and pasted in this message bc, guess what, copy paste works in MS community even though it doesn't in MS teams :()) ... the holding the mouse button and use CTRL+C for copy and CTRL+V for paste does not work as expected. When will a fix for this be released so that we can copy and paste as we used to be able to do?

"'This doesn't work well at all though. It gets this weird formatting that is not usable for a straight copy paste, It pastes a preview of the message along with the entire message. I still have to do a bunch of editing. This is a garbage upgrade and needs to be fixed. The masses of people who copy paste are not using it for coding, that is an edge case and should not be the main focus of programming.

    Kevin, very well said.

The KISS principle would have saved us customers lots of frustration.

Thanks for pointing at "and hold", because I have read some other explanations talking about [Alt] button.
Click and hold while pressing [Ctrl]-[C] works as before, I confirm.
