How To Prevent Enter Key From Sending Chat Message

I am often working in other windows but have a lot of teams messages that I need to address. This results in my sending meaningless messages accidentally when I hit ENTER thinking I am in a different window but I am really in teams. How do I by default prevent the ENTER button from sending a message?

Do not assume that the person you are talking to is stupid, just because you can not find/see what this person is talking about.

Do not try to patronize me !

I am a standard user trying to point out that there is a workaround and I did not use technical jargon.

Like the majority of Teams users, I use the app installed on a Windows PC . I don't think I need to give my Windows version, PC brand and serial number, etc... when the person who initially asked the question did not specify anything.

If you don't like my post, jut read the next one, I am not going to edit it mine. I will simply add a screenshot here to show you where the A with a pen is 😉

It is just plain UNBELIEVABLE that all major software companies WILL NOT fix the basics first, they will not implement the BASIC THINGS first, they won't listen to the user base FIRST, they won't listen to the MOST SENIOR LEVEL and MOST EXPERIENCED users FIRST. Instead they play with colors, change things for no reason, and make products slower and more buggy. Where is the outrage. Why does everyone just put up with it.

They don't even have to go that far. Just make ENTER=SEND optional.
Why ENTER should mean SEND anyway?
It has always been associated with a new line even from typewriter eras.
    Why argue over it?

I just came here almost 2.5 years after this original question was posted because this is still a problem. It drives me crazy that huge tech corporations say that they listen to their customers - evidence in point that they absolutely do not listen to us at all. It is ridiculous to have the return key send the message - it leads to rework and frustration.

It's been over two years since this question was asked and Microsoft still hasn't implemented a default setting. No wonder everyone hates Teams.
